1. We've had very few donations over the year. I'm going to be short soon as some personal things are keeping me from putting up the money. If you have something small to contribute it's greatly appreciated. Please put your screen name as well so that I can give you credit. Click here: Donations

One of my XBILs would find, & surprise, them on the outdoors staircase. He would pickup the playing dead opposums by the tail & toss them into the brush. After seeing their teeth & claws up close (a rescue opposum that was brain damaged to the point of being completely docile) I want nothing to do with touching one.

As a young kid I used to hear the stories of how opposums would burrow deep into the ground to chew into caskets to feed on dead bodies. Even back then I didn't believe it .

This hawk comes by every now and then. We have several squirrels that are very active in our yard on a daily basis. The hawk completely ignores them. I’ve even seen the squirrel sitting in a tree with the hawk sitting in the same tree less than 5’ away from the squirrel.

Not sure if the hawk is young and too small to go after a squirrel, or the squirrel is too much of a chonker, or what.

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

Do you have any bird feeders?
That hawk is looking for winged prey.

Yes. You can see the tube feeder in the far right of that pic. We have a couple of those, and a couple smaller feeders as well. Lots of finches, sparrows, junkos around this time of year.
