This is where I drop the "I told you so" comment.

plus, a pouty Brady is always a good sight. Then again, I'm sure he went home and got a handjob from his supermodel wife so he can't complain too much.

Not a bad game, but it wasn't one I could get really excited about.

    Definitely agreed.

Both teams seem kind of vanilla.

the most important moment of the super bowl was madonna's entrance.
    the commercials were not great.
the game was, well, what it was.
i had a slice of walnut cake sometime in the 3rd quarter.

  5. I won PRIZES at our SB party because I was closest to predicting the final score and number of field goals. I couldn't care less about either team, but had fun with my boys.

    Great game.

As for the Pats/Cheats "fans" who are all over the media in Boston tearing into Wes Welker and Tom Brady's wife... good going guys.

If you drive Brady out or Welker gets traded away, that will really make you a better team wont it?

Its kind of ridiculous after the career and season Brady has had some so called fans still are willing to turn on him for only leading a team with the worst pass defence in the league and no starting running back to a hail mary away from winning it all. I dont like the guy that much, but my personal opinion is that if you dont think he is entitled to a bit of respect you dont know much about football.

It reminds me of Arsenal fans who chant for Wenger to get sacked (which really is moronic)

actually, SF, you don't understand Boston/New England area fans. They're probably the worst when it comes to blaming players but at least they love their teams with a die hard passion. That's more than any gunner fan can say, as most of them went by the way side years ago. Sacking Wenger would be great for Arsenal, but that's another thread completely.

I have no problem with fans bashing players, and the players expect it and most of the time ignore it and chalk it up as part of the game. Welker and Brady aren't going anywhere and the fans know this.

We also have some of the most vicious back stabbing rumor mongering sports "reporters" who love to harp on about players until the fans turn on them.

I know this news is a couple days old, but I just wanted to say "keep it classy New Orleans".

Well shit. Just heard that sources say they will release peyton manning tomorrow. I'm not sure that that's a good decision.

  11. The Colts were very weak last year, not sure that Manning would have made much of a difference. Next year would they be any better - regardless who is their quarterback? I don't think they will be. Why pay the bonus and lock into a contract extension for Manning when the team isn't going to be very good? Time to rebuild.

True to a point..... their defense wasn't that great but in previous years people were more focused on manning. Their offensive line just sucks ass. Loom what happened to collins. Manning was smart enough to know when to get rod of the ball and not take long loss of yards. It is time to rebuild, bit it would have been nice to have a rookie qb be able to study under manning g for a season or 2. Im not sure that luck is the right tool voice but time will tell.

    Bear Cub Goes down smooth.

The reason to keep Manning wasn't to turn the Colts around overnight, but to give Andrew Luck one of the greatest QB's of all time to shadow. Without a good mentor (which Curtis Painter sure as shit isn't,) you'll end up with another Sam Bradford or Mark Sanchez.

  14. I agree, any rookie will have a very tough time.

The trouble is, to keep Manning it costs you $28M. That money could be well spent upgrading the O-line, D-tackle, or secondary.

If that's the case, 10 points if you can name the mentor for Manning. Hell, I'll even give you 10 points if you can name Eli's tutor! Oh, and daddy doesn't count.

On paper, this is the right move. Peyton took a year off with an injury, there are questions about his arm strength (although I'll bet that Isray has a better idea about the answers to those questions than anyone who's not Peyton Manning) and he's due a gigantic bonus. It looks like they're planning on starting Luck in his rookie year, which is a lot to ask. He played college ball in a pro-style offense, so that will help. So the numbers say go with the younger guy who may be as good and will cost less. That will help free up some money for other positions.

But like ESPN said this morning, Isray better sure as hell hope he's right. Because if Peyton ends up with another ring somewhere else, this is going to go down as one of the dumbest moves in pro football history.

Like when the cowboys traded Herschel walker to the vikings.

I have to ask because I've had this conversation before:

You do mean that the Vikings were the dumb ones, right? If so, I totally agree. If not, facepalm.

I love Manning. I hope he has several more productive years. But if Luck is even 80% of what they think he will be, it's absolutely the right move long term.
