ok i saw judge, jury, executioner last night and...

i'm just kind of confused exactly how strong these zombies are supposed to be. last episode they were pawing at the windows of the bus, yet last night it took all of 3 seconds to claw into dale's innards without a knife. it just seems like they'd be able to deal with thin window panes that were in their way if they could disembowel someone in the time it took the others to get across the field.

In re: the 'full synopsis' of the upcoming episodes:
Several people have noted (and I agree) that they actually increase our enjoyment of the show because we know that something big is about to happen, so we watch even more intently than usual. This is an exception because other times/on other shows spoilers have ruined a storyline for me...this time they are making the show much more fun.

So the last episode, 2.11 - 'Judge, Jury, Executioner,' kicked ass, did it not? Here's a really graphic depiction of Dale with his guts ripped out. (Not a spoiler, has already been broadcast.)
Unconfirmed but widespread talk is that actor Jeffery DeMunn ('Dale' above) who has been in every one of former TWD showrunner Frank Darabont's films (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, etc.) blew a gasket and demanded to be written out of the show when Darabont was fired. By the time he thought about it and changed his mind it was too late--they'd written this sequence. 'Dale' sort of went of with a whimper but oh, the visuals were great!

Here's another post-episode promo photo from AMC TWD episode 2.11:

Daryl's character is really stepping up. We've long known he is 'badass' but there's more to him. Here, I would say compassion and strength of character.

Again from the AMCtv.com site: 'Carl,' who some 'internet people' seem to think should be more mature than the mixed up group of adults around him. Everyone knows you don't chuck stones at a walker. Really?! There have never been walkers until 'now'. Who knew the rules? I see him as a curious kid who is mourning his best friend, was recently shot and almost died, who is living in a horrifying zombie apocalyptic world (in a freaking tent!) who is being asked to grow up NOW. For him to revert to 'childish things' could get him killed yes, but I think we'll see less and less of Carl acting like a child as we move into season 3.

No disrespect, as I briefly pondered the same. However, said zombie was utterly ravenous (as evidenced by his emaciation) and
writer Kirkman has intimated that the zombies will, despite not having a thought process, 'adapt' and possibly become more dangerous.

Finally, suspension of disbelief. There is no such thing as zombies. Take it a step further: the Dale-mutilating zombie should not have been able to rip into cowhide either, nor in season 1 should the zombie swarm have been able, using only bare hands and rotten zombie teeth, to rip open Rick's horse and consume it. Actually, zombie teeth should be rotting and falling out at a hell of a clip making them much less a danger...
but they keep being made as each human dies.

From episode 2.12 'Better Angels: Official short synopsis (NO spoilers):
The Walking Dead Episode: “Better Angels” Season 2, Episode 12:
Episode Synopsis: Someone (or something) wicked is prowling around the farm, so Rick, Shane, Daryl and Glenn set up a patrol in the area as night falls. Original Air Date: Mar 11, 2012

I have again the entire synopsis for the final episode of season 2. Of all places the spoiler guy is sharing at 4 Chan. He posts every week. He's right every week. What can I say?
    Episode 12: "Better Angels"

Episode begins with Dale's funeral. Rick makes a speech, intercut with Andrea, Daryl, Shane and T-Dog killing some random walkers in a field. Funeral ends with Rick saying that the group has to set aside
their differences and pull together in honor of Dale. Cue theme music.

Hershel finally allows everybody to move into the house. Rick decides to let Randall loose instead of killing him, just like they had originally planned. Shane gets all mad at the idea, but Rick says it's his decision and Shane needs to shut up.

Later, Carl reveals to Shane that he done fucked up and stole Daryl's gun as well as released that walker from the swamp, but asks him not to tell anyone. While Shane is building a lookout platform, Lori comes to talk to him. She thanks him for everything he had done (saving them from Atlanta, etc.) and says she's
truly sorry for all the crap that happened between them.

Shane asks Rick that he and Daryl be allowed to go dump Randall, but Rick refuses. Shane then tells Rick about what Carl did and gives him Daryl's gun. Rick has a talk with his son and basically tells him to grow up. Meanwhile, Shane sneaks into the shed and releases Randall. They secretly leave the farm and take off into the woods together. Shane tells the kid that he wants to join their group and asks Randall where it is. He tells Shane that they have a camp on a highway five miles away. Shane then proceeds to snap his neck.

The group discovers that Randall is gone and gets all panicked. Suddenly, a bloody Shane appears. He says that Randall knocked him out and escaped (he actually smashed his head into a tree after killing Randall) and that he tried to run after him. Two pairs head out to look for Randall: Glenn & Daryl and Rick & Shane. Daryl uses his epic tracking skills to deduce that Randall and Shane actually walked together and had a scuffle near the tree with Shane's blood on it. Then, a zombie-Randall appears. Daryl misses with his crossbow, there's a fight, Glenn takes out Randall. Daryl uses his epic Sherlock skills to deduce that Randall was killed by a broken neck and zombified in spite of having no bite marks.
Shane and Rick meanwhile arrive on a field. Rick tells Shane that he knows Shane plans to kill him there. Shane plans to pin the murder on Randall and says he's better for Lori and that Rick has no idea how to fix the situation. Shane wants Rick to raise his gun so he wouldn't have to kill an unarmed man. Rick talks him out of the murder, telling him that there's still a way out of it. As Shane is lowering his gun, Rick stabs him in the chest, killing
him. Carl appears, having left the farm looking for them, and sees Shane rising from the dead while Rick's back is turned. He shoots Shane in the head, attracting a nearby group of walkers. Rick and Carl stand over Shane's corpse, oblivious to the huge horde of walkers approaching the farm from the woods. End episode.

I'm curious to see who will fill the "Dale" role from the comics now. By that I mean the voice of reason.

I wonder if Hershel will survive the Governor now. Just a thought.

    Hard to say.
I was just thinking how Hershel is a much-needed asset, namely his medical expertise. I realize he was replaced by others in the comic and with the Governor on the horizon it seems unlikely Hershel will survive but now that we are seeing a more comprehensive view of his character, I'd really like to see Scott Wilson as Hershel stay on a bit.

Ok, that about Dale is very arguable. I watched the Talking Dead after the episode aired on AMC, and the writer of the series argued that in their opinion, as zombies rot, their bones protrude more from the rotting skin, and act like sharpened claws. So the reason they can deflesh things so easily is because the writers assume the bones of the zombies are weapons. All of this can be argued, of course. But its cool to see different perspectives on zombies. Even if the zombie that killed Dale hadn't opened up his gut like it was a pie, I think Dale would turn.

But in my opinion, any sort of zombie one on one contact should affect you. Their rotting flesh holds the disease, so being scratched on slobbered on by a zombie should affect you in some way. But, we can't really overthink it. I mean, zombies are a ridiculous notion, yet so damn fascinating. It could never happen, so its fun to let the imagination fly with it. Its hard to not criticize the show for that reason: opinions vary, logic is flawed, and I can say personally that's what irritated me the most about season one. But I've learned to take it at face value, and just enjoy the mayhem. It always makes me want to play l4d after. haha

Maybe I should try that! Instead, I start collecting gross-out photos & videos and making screencaps to post. My spouse always has bad dreams the night of The Walking Dead where he's zombie killing (or good dreams depending on if he survives, I suppose).
I expect the writers can make the walkers any way they wish as long as they keep us entertained. Count me in.

So the rumor I hear is (rumor, not a spoiler) Shane is killed in the next two episodes. Maybe by Raymond. Reanimates as a zombie and is killed by Carl. Remember they are all infected. All will turn if they die. This is what the scientist whispered at CDC. And why Dale had to take a head shot.

  13. b2653009 Slightly Tilted

You make a great point. I've been wondering that CDC thing since I first saw it. I WANNA KNOW WHAT HE SAID!
On another note, I haven't watched closely, but I think they take out everyone and everything with a headshot. Whether its after they're down, or preemptively. I know I would.
Also, about the infection thing: that is what I was trying to say in my previous post. I think everyone is definitely infected, its only a matter of time before they turn. They did that with the Left4Dead storyline as well. Some people might not be infected by the air contamination, but you will turn from a bite, and/or any kind of fluid contact. So their blood in your mouth (which has happened more than once on the show, cause I always notice it and cringe) means you're infected. *shrugs* my opinion at least.

  14. dodger01

    dodger01 Getting Tilted

In the comics, everyone is infected and turns when they die, whether by zombie bites or not. And Shane dies in book one. Living on borrowed time. But then again Dale and Lori live as a couple.
I'm just guessing about Shane and the CDC thing. But it makes sense. Carl is going to be a psycho/ socio path. He is going to kill someone.... Shane or Raymond?

And what about T-Dog? Are his days numbered?

To be honest, I thought T-Dog was already dead. I missed a few boring episodes my brother told me weren't worth watching at the start of season two, and in the last several ones I watched, I didn't remember seeing him in the episodes! I wondered a couple weeks ago what had happened to him. Guess he'll still around somewhere...
Carl the kid is absolutely going to be a psycho/socio path. No doubt about it. No kid would be "socially normal" in an environment like that. That and he's a goddamn moron.

The bus door windows probably have reinforced glass, or they may even be some sort of plastic. Plus, the opening on the door windows is very narrow, so that would make them that much stronger and harder to get into.
Also, the zombie was right on top of Dale with his soft belly *right* there! He wanted his Hot Pocket, bad. Wouldn't you work a little harder when your Hot Pocket is in your hands? ;) (in other words, there probably isn't any satisfactory answer. they might all have varying strength)
Did you really mean it that Dale (the old guy) and Lori (Rick's wife) are a couple now in the comics? How'd that happen, if true?

Also, yeah, they really need to make better use of the token black guy.

After the looong buildup of the first half, you know there was going to be a flood of activity so to speak when they season resumed. Might actually get to these before the season ends but not not in a rush so far for some reason. I am just avoiding any spoilers which has been very easy so far.

In The Walking Dead comics after quite a bit of time enduring the apocalypse, everything's going to hell, people losing body parts and living and other people, walker and human, dying all over, yes, Andrea and Dale do end up as a couple.
TV Andrea thus far is nothing like her comic book counterpart tho.' TV Andrea is way more glam for one.

Not a rumour. Confirmed as true by every entertainment news source you can pick from. (The others are in AMC's pocket and playing coy.) Rick stabs him in the chest after talking Shane down from shooting Rick in the head. Then, whilst Rick stupidly turns his back on just-dead Shane, little Carl shows up looking for dad and Shane, sees Shane reanimate and shoots Shane through the head, dead. I love it because from here on in both father and son can carry the guilt for killing Shane. They both killed him. Whee!

What they have not done with T-Dog (Iron E. Singleton) has to be one of the worst cases of tokenism I've seen on a modern TV show. They may as well saved even more money when they cut the budget for this season and simply used a cardboard cutout of him. He didn't even get to speak when they took a vote about killing Randall, ffs! Now that is crap writing, IMO.
