Kathleen Turner's smoky and throaty; Gwen Stefani's sultry and sexy; Pink's soulful and ballsy. Who, in your opinion, has the sexiest voice? Is there someone in your world who is exponentially hotter just for his or her speaking/singing voice?

    And......go.

    Actors, in no particular order:

    Kate Beckinsale
    Judi Dench
    Uma Thurman
    Sarah Silverman
    Scarlett Johansson
    Keira Knightley
    Cate Blanchett
    Milla Jovovich

And, yes, accents are taken into account.

Singers are another matter (and some of the above do sing too)....

Hah, I was watching television the other day, and a commercial with Tom Selleck as the narrator came on. I asked my husband if I could get Tom Selleck to read to me. The other, totally obvious one to me is Patrick Stewart. I could listen to him all day long. There's a Japanese seiyū, Ishikawa Hideo, who voices one of my favorite characters (see avatar) and his voice is spinetingling.

I have a thing for Scottish accents--Alan Cumming and David Tennant could read to me any day of the week.

No, he doesn't really do it for me...he's said some things I'm not personally a fan of, and thus, his voice just doesn't appeal.

Agreed. But not in that order. ;)

I'd listen to Sam Elliot read or talk or cuss or sing. That's a voice with character.

Of course accents are an important factor. That's why I count Thandie Newton, Minnie Driver, Alex Kingston, Anna Torv, Ewan McGregor.

Your right, her voice is a little gravely, and therefore sexy, but... she whistles her S's and ST's... that just grinds my soul! i dont know why, but that has always annoyed the shit outta me like nails on a chalkboard... LOL i'm probably alone in htis, and therefore wierd, but i could only enjoy her speech if she never used a word with S in it... i know im wierd...

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

I would like Gwen Stefani serenading me in one ear, Shirley Manson (Garbage) in the other.

    I love these male voices:
    Winston Churchill
    Barrack Obama
    Patrick Stewart
    Johnny Cash
    Robert Mitchum
Dennis Haysbert (the Allstate Insurance commercial guy)

    And these women's voices:
    Tori Amos
    Patty Smith
    Margaret Thatcher
    Sigourney Weaver
    Peggy Lee

    I hate the sound of:
    Laura Ingraham
    Ellen Degeneres
    Kate Upton
    Conan O'Brien
    Fran Drescher
    and especially...
    Neil Young

I just saw Pierce Brosnan in the Thomas Crown Affair, he's one smooth dude with a voice to go with it.
    Patrick Stewart is noble
Brad Pit still has a certain cocky sureness...as does his co-star George Clooney.

Of the ladies, Marilyn Monroe made men melt.
    Sophia Loren, Lauren Bacall...
still on the job...Angelina Jolie, Susan Sarandon, Helen Mirren, Monica Bellucci, Uma Thurman
and although she is new to stardom, Sofía Vergara...her attitude is infectious
