What you're looking at is a screenshot of my personalized RockMelt browser. While it's not too different from the original Google Chrome, you'll easily notice a few key details. For starters, at the top left is my Facebook Alerts Bar (Friend Requests, Messages, Notifications). The New Tab page is modified slightly to show things my friends have been doing. There's an apps bar on the left and a chat bar on the right. Finally, additional buttons are next to my address bar (two for sharing pages/statuses, one for a quick offline-mode). The tools button is gone completely.

What you may not notice is that the Tools button has been replaced by the RockMelt Dropdown. The Apps bar also doubles as an RSS reader. If I click on any of the BBC or RSS apps, It creates a popout containing headings for new articles. The MLB app creates a popout showing today's scores. the Mail buttons take me to Gmail and Hotmail in a separate tab. The Facebook button shows me all new messages in my news feed without me having to go to Facebook.com. The Calendar button shows my upcoming events from Google Calendar. I also have a Dictionary app and a Wolfram app, among other things.

The thing I love about RockMelt is you have far more customization ability than you normally have with Chrome. That, and you're on Facebook without having to be on Facebook. But anyway, this thread is mainly to discuss RockMelt and what apps/extensions you use with it, your thoughts on it versus the original Chrome, etc.

That side panel looks like the interface in Ubuntu Unity.
Looks useful if you are into all of that social networking stuff.
this entire list pulled from the 'about' page is more than enough reasons for me to not install it personally:
» Built-in chat so you can stay in touch with friends from any website
» Share button lets you quickly update your status, tweet links, and post on walls
» Social Reading helps you discover the hottest news from friends
» Instant news from your favorite sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and more
» Automatic sync so you can access the latest news and bookmarks from anywhere

ROFLMAO. I take it you're not into that sort of thing? Personally, I've been addicted since 2009 (or was it 2008?).

I am in the "30 something going on 80 something" crowd as far as interest in most of the social media sites. I do frequent facebook but do not do much on there. I find twitter useful on exceedingly rare occasions for the latest NBA stories and rumours, but that is about it for that area.
Never had heard of this software before tonight, but it obviously is something people find useful and enjoy using. I can understand that , most people these days do not share my interest or outright excitement in some cases in finding a good 30-50+ year old vinyl in perfect shape for typically dirt cheap prices just waiting to be transferred to my digital collection.
