    Does anyone know a legit site I can check my ADSL speed?

    On my laptop firefox is close to unuseable its so slow. When I look at task manager it isnt using a lot of the memory or CPU and there is tons of CPU spare... but it just constantly freezes

    Its a year old laptop and I also cant play WOW on the lowest graphic settings it freezes so much also, so it cant just be firefox being a shit program?

    ping 29 ms
    download speed 1.75 Mbps
    upload speed 0.71 Mbps

    Firefox froze and stopped responding twice in the test.

    Are these bad speeds?

    It's good for getting email and surfing pages. Doing gaming and watching video, not so much.

    Toshiba Satelite C660 - 237

    4GB of RAM and it has Windows 7

    When I go in Control Panel there is a thing where Windows rates the computer and it scores it:

    processor = 5.3
    RAM = 5.3
    Graphics =3.6
    Gaming Graphics = 3.3
    Primary Hard Disk = 5.5

    the built in graphics are not up to par for WoW. Depending on what you are asking FF to render, video, flash, etc. It's going to suck wind.

    I guess thats why it was pretty cheap.

    Someone at work said the problem might be something like that, that it didnt have a discrete graphics card but the main processor also had the graphics card built in. But I dont know if you can easily fit a new graphics card into it.

    no, you cannot put in a new graphics card into a laptop. even if one has a discrete graphics card, "one does not just simply replace the graphics card".

    Ok, thanks. I am thinking of replacing the thing. Its only a year old, but it was really cheap - and I guess like most things in life you get what you pay for.

    My laptop would suck for any current games. It was a budget system three years ago but still works beautifully graphically for both Ubuntu 12.04 and win 7. For the gaming angle, it runs Red Alert: Yuri's Revenge just fine but that is what you expect when you have to run a game in compatibility mode just to make it run in Win 7. My "latest game" is still Doom 3 and that system would handle that decently too I strongly suspect.
