I eat a lot of horseradish hummus, spread on dark bread.

(But then, I really like horseradish.)

(I even started a thread about it, some time back.)

  2. Take a gander at this Ralphie -

You are not the only one. My bp thurs was 157 over 101 - first time its been in three figures. Am on four lots of meds - so 'fat sick and nearly dead' probably would be a fit description. Am considering joining a gym - and maybe buying a juicer would be a good idea.

    Wow.
First: You are getting laid a lot. Congrats.
Second: Your diet is truly awful.

Here's a couple of really simple suggestions that you can implement this week:
    1. Buy a head of lettuce (not iceberg) like red or green leaf. Put a couple of leaves on your ham sandwiches.
    2. Bring fruit for your afternoon snack instead of the extra sandwich. Bananas, apples, pears all travel well.

The main thing you need to do though is lose the address of all the local fast food joints. You're eating a ton of substances from these places that resemble actual food but are just over-processed junk loaded with stuff that is terrible for you.

Ralphie, I saw your age in another thread.
Now is the time to get serious about changing your eating habits.
Losing weight will only get harder as you age.
Thirty, +/-, seems to be the magic age when your metabolism slows down and the weight starts showing up.

fflowey nailed it: "Your diet is awful." Not only are you not eating anything that is good for you, what you are eating isn't even neutral, it's loaded with sodium, saturated fats, calories, etc.

A personal question--Do you and/or your wife cook? I'm talking about real food, not prepackaged stuff that you just toss in the microwave or oven.

I'm going to add my voice - EAT BREAKFAST. Just doing that will help to balance your day.

Replace the fries on the side with salad. If you don't order the fries, then you can't eat them :)

Good luck, mate. Try not to get discouraged - you are starting a long journey and in some respects it has no ending, because what you want to do is change habits for rest of your life. What I mean by this is you can eat *anything* you want, but not everyday. Your default everyday food needs to be as healthy and balanced as is possible.

Eating habits are actually something you learn from your parents - this is something good you can do for your daughter now!

@Chris noyb yes we cook. 90%of the time its me. But since I took this job I'm not home as much so when I get home spend a little time with my daughter and shower its 8:00. Its easier to eat bad. But I've got to change it. I did buy some eggs and boiled them today so I can eat something in the mornings.

On a side note I have yet to eat today. All I have had is a lot of sweet tea. Sweet tea is my vice...

I just got my weekly email from my fitness trainer and thought she has a few interesting things on her blog page that are somewhat relevant to this:

Sustainable Exercise Choices - Fit My Day
This talks about choosing exercise that works for you, so it isn't a chore.

I know I need to do it, but WHAT do I do? - Fit My Day
I'm going to quote part of this one:

I've found that I can broil cuts of meat and boil or steam a couple of veggies in about 20 minutes if I don't have to spend time washing the pans & untensils needed to cook. That also means plenty of leftovers for a decent lunch.

Please, at the very least, try to include fruit & veggies in your diet. It will be a good start.

Sweet drinks like that can EASILY add up to hundreds, even a thousand calories in a day. I dunno about you, but I prefer to EAT my calories. What about unsweet tea with Splenda or Stevia? Little changes like that add up.

It's a process, for sure. Maybe look into simple crock pot meals. They're not all the healthiest, but at least you will know what you're putting in the crock pot - and your body. Throw some kind of meat and seasoning in the pot and let it go on low while you're at work. Ready when you get home. Steam some veggies in the microwave and you'll have dinner ready in minutes. They even make steam bag veggies in the freezer section. (Not the ones with sauce!) Steamfresh or something is the brand.

Setting yourself up for success is going to be the key. Make it easy to say yes to good food.

This. I got in a sweet tea/soda kick for a long time, and I'm convinced that it's what contributed to me packing on the pounds I'm working to lose now. I hate plain water, but I've been forcing myself, and I'm getting better. I add diet green tea and propel for flavor filler. Once I started tracking calories I was amazed by my liquid calorie intake. And it's all empty, useless, fat causing calories.

I know how hard it can be. The first time I lost a lot of weight, I did it really the WRONG way.
I pretty much stopped eating most things and went to the gym 6 days a week. I'd eat salads or Lean Cuisines or crackers.
I lost 94 pounds in seven months. And looked like death. Had no energy, didn't want to do anything.

I find it really difficult to make sure I'm getting the right balance of nutrition. I can calorie count and diet that way like a pro.
But, I don't lose weight. Or, not much and I end up gaining it back.
I had to find something that told me how much of what things to eat to make sure I'm getting balanced nutrition.
Hubs started paleo-zone, which was nearly perfect for me, since I can't tolerate cow-based dairy or soy.
I'm not a big meat-eater, typically, but this thing tells me how many grams of protein/carbs/fat to eat at each meal and lists a ton of ways to get it.
Because I get bored easily with certain foods. Having a list of things to eat and not eat, and the ways to combine things into a meal helped me.
Most days I have trouble eating enough because I'm so damn full from all the protein.
It's not for everyone, but have you ever looked into meeting with a nutritionist or checking to see if you're running any deficiencies?
There are plenty of healthy eating plans out there that are empirically sound, and getting the right nutrients will totally help your energy levels and sexy time!

I'm about 177 and 5'10": I try to get about 34 g of protein in my meals. There's about 6 grams per egg,, but I don't want to scarf down half a dozen eggs each breakfast. I usually have 1 egg supplemented b y half a cup of egg whites augmented with cheese & spinach. Maybe add a slice of bacon or two and/ or sausages.

If I don't have egg whites, I just have 3 eggs (poached is my fave) plus the rest.

    It's quick and easy
