so i'm a closet introvert. i talk with people at school, i flirt with girls i probably shouldn't, and i ask how peoples' days are going... blah blah blah. In reality, I'm more comfortable being by myself or maybe having one really close friend or the SO around. My problem comes when I graduate and I no longer have a roommate. My solution? A macaw. Not only do these crafty birds like to play, but they develop a taste in music, they get along great with company, and like like to do mischief. Definitely the kind of animal that I could come home and play hide and go seek with or tug-of-stick or guess-which-hand-the-strawberry-is-in-and-you-get-it-or-else-I-eat-it or any other number of things. I guess my bottom line is that pets can be awesome companions and I already know what I have my eye on.

I've seen all sorts of TFPers post about their pets with no one thread to put up stories or videos of said cohabitants. So how about it TFP? Tell us about your pet. Personality? Habits? Species? Funny stories? Favorite flavor of furniture?

  2. They can also bite straight through curtain rails and dining table chairs, and easily go mental without sufficient stimulation. I would quite like a monkey - but it would be better for a monkey if it were not with me, but playing with its family.

yeah i heard they have a pretty nasty bite, but as long as i play chess with it everyday using different fruits for pieces i think we'll get along pretty well. hopefully this bird will like listening to Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, Beethoven, Disturbed, NPR and Tek 9

Out of focus because someone won't hold still, but apparently Max enjoys the smell of horses on my jeans tonight.

About a year ago, My daughter got herself a guinea pig named Oscar. He's a charmer, but I understood that cavys do better in pairs than all alone.

Since my daughter and wife were leaving for China for two weeks, I thought it would be nice for Oscar to have a friend for company while I was at work.

His name is Deo, and don't be fooled by this picture- they actually can't stand one another, in a "Odd Couple" sort of way.

This is Oscar in one of his dramatic poses:

And this is Deo, just being shy:

I know someone who got two of them. Both males, so they couldn't procreate.

Seems that one of them went Caitlyn on them, and they ended up with a bunch of babies. :p

Protip - Check very carefully to make sure they are both the sex you think they are. :D

Some more silliness- Oscar eating some lettuce:

(and as usual, if you don't see the video, Click Here to watch!

(and no, Oscar does not actually make that sound when he eats; that's a special effect.) ;)

The 'I know I'm not supposed to be on the bed uninvited, but you really aren't going to make me give up this pillow are you?' face.

Followed by the 'Fine, I'll just get a tan outside then.'
