"Favorite" Movie and What Character

At a work meeting the other day we had an icebreaker that was a pretty good question imo.

What is your favorite movie and what character would you play. I'm not going to limit it to your very favorite, but just a movie that you like and what character in that movie would you play? I know there was another thread about a movie that describes your life, but I think my life's pretty boring so I probably haven't seen that movie ;) I'm also not going to limit this to movies. If you find a television series, go for it :)

My first would be Harry Potter - I would want to be Luna Lovegood. I just love the way she's smart, but in a dreamy kind of way and off in her own world. I kind of feel that way sometimes. She's also not afraid to be herself even though there are some of the students that don't accept her the way she is.

** I tried to select the right forum for this, but if it needs to be moved, please do :) Thanks

My favourite movie(s) are the Marx Brother films. If I had to pick one it would likely be Horse Feathers or Monkey Business. Night at the Opera does especially stand out as well for numerous reason such as the the first with a well developed plot, the cabin scene, the finale, and so much more.

For this exercise, I would say the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice, and I'd like to be Elizabeth Bennet.

    Why?

To add to this: I sincerely wish I had just a fraction of Chico's incredible talent with the piano but that is nowhere near true. I would fall somewhere in the area of Zeppo's role as the straight man helping balancing out the zaniness the other three are inflicting on what is barely resembling a script holding together classic routines .

My first pick would be Casablanca, and I'd wanna play Rick. Great characters, great story, and Ingrid Bergman...what else is there?

That was the first movie I thought of. If you get technical Rick leaves with the crooked police chief before the Nazis descend and make both of what would be their short remaining lifespans hell.
Or you could do an alternate twist and leave with Ilsa.....

Gender-bending a bit here, but I think if I were in that movie, I'd rather be Rick. :)

All true, but I love the ending just as it is. He sacrifices his feelings for the woman he loves for the greater good....simply awesome!

If had a second choice, it might be Atticus in To Kill a Mockingbird. Or I might go in a different direction and do Pete Venkman in Ghostbusters...so many choices, so little time

Thanks to the gracious extension of the topic to include TV, my initial, gut reaction is, resoundingly, The Tick. Preferably the cartoon from several years ago as it was a bit truer to the comic book, but I'd be okay with the Patrick Warburton, tragically-short-lived, live action version. And I could only be the Tick himself. His childlike nature, his wonder at mundane things, his belief that everything is more than what it seems on the surface, and the fact that he is just not quite connected to reality as most people know it resonate with me.
Keen thread! I look forward to offering more....

On a not very serious note, I could be Anakin Skywalker minus the "slap me now" bitching and whining that he does throughout the apocryphal "prequels" that makes Bill Paxton's character in Aliens look like the main hero.
He gets to be a badass that gains mechanical arms and legs, gains a good 6-7 inches in height, and gets to kill all kinds of people just because he can. All for the low price of falling into lava and probably helping betray and slaughter the Jedi Order. Not going to actually watch that third film so I can live comfortably with not knowing most of the details in it.

Not necessarily my "favorite" movie of all time, but I would absolutely love to be Elizabeth Shue's role in Adventures in Babysitting.

    Borla those are not movies.

Though if we were including TV shows, let's be honest. Liz Lemon and I are the same person.

While I like Liz as a friend, she is too dysfunctional for me to want to be her.

I stand corrected. Please forgive me.

I would also totally be Mary Lane from Reefer Madness because Kristin Bell is adorable. And sexy. And I would like to be those things. :p

Can I be a remotely related Duke cousin that gets to ride in the General Lee, make 100+ foot jumps while not wearing seatbelts and land with a small bump, and make the Sheriff look like an even bigger fool?

I would limit this to the tv series with the original cast, none of the not so stellar recent movies that failed on several accounts.

Well, if I'm going to piss off Plan9, Imma gonna go with Conan from, well, Conan.

But I'm not really that petty.

So I'll go with God from The Ten Commandments.

Aw, who am I kidding. I'm totally Ben Stiller from There's Something About Mary. A dipshit who means well.

    Willow—Madmartigan.

    Real Genius—Chris Knight. Duh.

    Run Lola Run—Lola, naturally.

Sixteen Candles—I'd be the smart, sexy chick that steals Jake Ryan from both Caroline and Sam, because they suck and he's a dreamboat.

Stand By Me—Chris, and I wouldn't die in the end.

Crazy. Stupid. Love.—Hannah because Ryan Gosling.

William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet—Romeo because Claire Danes.

Love Actually—I'd be Juliet (Kiera Knightley) and totally ditch whatshisface (my new husband) for Mark (Andrew Lincoln). I would also be Jamie (Colin Firth) because Aurelia.
