    what are you doing?

Luckily I'm working from home. I pivoted from my project a few weeks back to assist the NetSec team with processing work. This was a good move to do because my project was put on hold as were all projects until this passes.

So now I'm helping the team get support staff, doctors, and nurses to be able to work remotely.

After that it's kind of weird to not commute home. I'm trying to read and limit my news consumption so that I don't get too much anxiety about the state of the world.

Have been working from home for a couple of weeks now, as my company restricted travel way early in the game.

Have been chilling and trying to find older movies or TV shows to watch/rewatch. Also doing a lot of remote volunteer work for a local not for profit who is assisting people through this situation.

  3. I manage an InfoSec team so we've all been working remote for awhile now. With school, kids, wife, home gym and hobbies, my days speed by.

This Pope is someone out of the ordinary! Here is his new message, full of wisdom and humility. If you don't profess any religion. If you are agnostic. If you are an atheist. Never mind. Read them...

BE HAPPY ... give yourself a minute to read it

    Pope Francisco

"You can be flawed, anxious, and sometimes irritated, but don't forget that your life is the greatest company in the world.
Only you can prevent her from going into decline.
There are many who appreciate, admire and love you. And you don't know but there are people for whom you are special
I would like you to remember that being happy is not having a heaven without storms, an accident-free road, work without fatigue, personal relationships without disappointments.
To be happy is to find strength in forgiveness, hope in battles, security in the box of fear, love in disagreements.
Being happy is not only to value the smile, but also to reflect on sadness.
It is not just commemorating success, but learning lessons from failure.
It is not just having joy with the applause, but having joy in anonymity.
Being happy is recognizing that life is worth living, despite all the challenges, sadness, misunderstandings, and periods of crisis. Emotional and economic.
Being happy is not a fate of destiny, but a conquest for those who know how to travel within their own being.
To be happy is to stop being a victim of problems and become an actor in your own story.
It is crossing deserts outside of oneself, but being able to find an oasis in the depths of our soul.
It is thanking God every morning for the miracle of life.
Being happy is not being afraid of your own feelings.
It is knowing how to talk about yourself.
It is having the courage to hear a "no" even from those you love.
It is having security to receive criticism, even if it is unfair.
It is kissing the children, pampering the parents, having poetic moments with friends, even if they hurt us.
To be happy is to let live the free, happy and simple creature that lives within each one of us.
It is having maturity to say 'I was wrong'.
It is having the audacity to say 'forgive me'.
It is having sensitivity to express 'I need you'.
It is having the ability to say 'I love you'.
May your life become a garden of opportunity to be happy ...
May you be a lover of joy in your springs.
May you be a friend of wisdom and peace in your winters.
And when you make a mistake along the way, you start all over again.
Well then you will be more passionate about life.
And you will discover that being happy is not having a perfect life.
But to use tears to water tolerance.
Use the losses to refine the patience.
    Using fallas to sculpt serenity.
    Use pain lapping pleasure.
Use obstacles to open the windows of intelligence.
    Never give up ....
Never give up on the people you love.
Never give up on being happy, because life is an unmissable show!

Pope Francis summons everyone, regardless of where he is, not even his creed or religion, to a moment of recollection, meditation or prayer for peace. The whole planet united in prayer for PEACE

Both the wife and I are working from home AND sexually harassing one another. It's actually nice since you get more work done without the interruptions, well, except for the sexual harassment stuff. But we're not reporting it and let's face it, it's fun.

I’m living temporarily with my sis & mom in Knoxville having escaped DC

    1. Sis & I are trying not to kill each other, we’re oil & water. She owns the house...no lords over it.

    2. Trying not to die from cat allergies

    3. Trying not to die from mold allergies (rains daily)

    4. Trying not to go insane over analyzing myself between both allergies, my esophagus being rough from the past flu, hot flashes and the damn Coronavirus (AND not scare everyone everytime I cough)

    5. Restocking up AGAIN here, because I did so up in DC and now because my sis decided that despite the fact the said she was going to share and I would pay for everything used, now is territorial, saying I’m grazing and doesn’t want to be inconvenienced by resupply. ( it’s best this way, but I was thrown initially by the tantrum)
** another several hundred down the drain

    6. Tiptoeing around my sis because she’s a volcano...but support my mom who’s nervous.

    7. Trying to please my mom who’s an ex nurse and on me like white on rice about all cleaning (excessive cleaning...but it’s for the best now, but getting nudged by your mom at 52 is special)

    8. Dealing with my dog who’s pittling everywhere because she feels the tension and anxiety. (Vet said she’s 100%

    9. Trying to find improv weapons in case looters or baddies appear.

    10. Trying not to TMI everyone. Which I do when I’m anxious or worried. (This would worry most...)

    So it’s been “special”
Now I feel like the immigrants who escaped the wars from Europe. (Not speaking the same “language” too)

I'm not homebound, nor is my wife. Work at a bank, so still answer calls and so forth. We are only using the drive thru, and the lobby is not open. Wife is a nurse at a cancer clinic, so that is not closed either.
Interesting thing is they did cut our open hours to 31.5 hours a week, but they did not cut our pay. So I am still getting paid for the full 40 hours. Furthemore, for employees working at the branches they just announced this morning that we would be getting a 20% pay bump for the next 4 weeks, with an option to extend it. Actuallly pretty gratified that my company is stepping up. I still don't trust them completely, but that does have me feeling better right now.

I am still working (physical therapist), but our clinic hours have been cut and the cancellation rate is so high (over 50%), they are sending us home early anyway. And I’m hourly. Which means that my pay is being significantly cut in an unpredictable way, so not enough to be able to file for partial unemployment. And they keep using the word “redeployed” to indicate that we will end up in the hospital helping with something.. but my manager sucks at communicating and they haven’t yet actually given us something to do. With the hospitals not significantly predicted to lose money in this scenario, I’m pretty pissed that they aren’t just doing a temporary closure of our clinic, paying us during it (if I was quarantined, I’d get paid for 2 weeks! But I have to be sick for that!), and putting us all on call if they *do* find work for us at the hospitals. This is a mess. And, of course, my manager is the non-confrontational type and literally tried to cancel our staff meeting today so he could avoid us all asking him questions about what we are supposed to do and how we get paid.

I also have a couple of patients who shouldn’t come in, but want to anyway. One is 75, has rheumatoid arthritis (takes immune suppressants), has COPD, and has a pacemaker. She insists on still coming. I’m starting to think she has a death wish. Her church also held a dinner on Sunday last week for “about 200 people” and she helped serve and prepare food for all of it.. uggghhhhhh. If she was my mom I’d have locked her into her house and taken her car keys.

So a chunk of my week has been spent volunteering, helping mostly mostly elderly and low income, learn how to use ZOOM so they can connect with friends and family that they shouldn't be around in person. It can be pretty frustrating to try to help someone do a task like that without being able to see them or their screen. One lady could get it to work on her phone, but not her tablet. So she literally had to point her phone at her tablet so that I could see what was actually taking place on her tablet as she tried to get it loaded. Then you have people who don't realize that whispering to someone in the room is picked up quite clearly on the mic, or that their bodily function noises can be heard.......good times. Makes it worth it when you see a great-grandma in her late 80s finally laughing and smiling when her camera works. :)

Week 3 of confinement. The wife and I still like each other. She's still laughing at my stupid jokes, which is a good thing, because that's all I got.

We both have had to go into work. My commute is down from 1.5 hours to about 45 minutes or so. I've had to go in twice this week but things seem to have settled down with the firewall and internet access. The wife had to go in yesterday and do a couple of closings. She works in a land trust department so they are still active.

We're about watched out on TV, most of the time we're playing music through the TV. SiriusXM and Pluto Dash are our favorites.

    Take care all.

We are just hanging out spending too much time on the intranet. I’m self-employed and my services are on site services for my clients which means no billable hours. Getting a bit of yard work done and spoiling the dogs.
We had big plans for this year, but loosing a few months pay put those on hold. Our biggest focus in doing everything we can to not catch this virus.
