No, no, we were talking about Toronto. I mentioned Canada (as a nation) only because I know almost nothing about the Canadian tax system, and to what extent it specifically advantages property owners vs. renters.

Like the states, you've got provincial tax and federal so it varies, depending. I'll just leave this here: Provincial and territorial tax and credits for individuals.

It has nothing to do with you personally, Street Pattern. You are simply another American to me. :D

I've never understood condos/townhouses, although my wife & I did look at a few shortly after the oil bust. That would've been the time to buy because they were dirt cheap, and many investors did so when the market was at rock bottom. If I wanted to share walls & ceilings with my neighbors, I'd rent an apartment.

    I don't mind a duplex.
You have one neighbor and as long as the firewall/neighbor is good, it's not a bad arrangement.
But you're right otherwise, why buy what amounts to an apartment?

Well...at the time I bought, I didn't think I'd be there that long. It was probably not my wisest decision, seeing as I'm kinda stuck with it for awhile.

But I have decent (albeit strange) neighbors - and I feel safe now that I live alone.

Would I do it again? Not in the same complex - but probably.

Fuck you and your fuck asinine requirement of the archaic device known as a fax machine. It's 2014. You're a multimillion dollar company. Get with the fucking program: It's called email and it totally replaced the fax machine sometime around 1997.

    Regards,

    Plan9

My boss remarked yesterday, "At one time, the fax machine was cutting edge!"

    Bless his heart.

That's about the time it replaced the Telex.

Seriously, my industry is night and day compared to 20 years ago. My first job used a typewriter. There isn't even one of those on this entire floor now.

They were horizontal, and my tie was as wide as your head. But really, it was my 'fro that made all the ladies ask me to "ring their bell". You know, before we got lazy and just pushed buttons to ring bells.

If print books laid out like websites become the new standard, I'm going to absolutely lose it.

  15. Dear ThePriseInferno,

    document.getElementByID != document.getElementById.
Get it right, or you're going to waste another hour doing useless debugging on code that otherwise works fine.

You youngsters just don't know how good you have it these days.

Learning how to get the fire just right for smoke signals was a PITA, and those damned pigeons were unreliable :D.

If I see one more book done entirely in Tweets or Facebook updates I think I will hurt someone.
Sad part is they seem to be YA books.
