Ok, this is for this coming season's NFL picks.
Members can throw down their best picks every week in here.

And the winner of the week can have bragging rights.

    -----------------

I'll add up every participant's numbers to a grand total at the end of the season.
    To announce the overall winner.

Play-offs will be a different set.

We've got time to figure out how we're going to play it,
since we're not really starting "officially" until regular season starts.

Pre-season has too much experimentation to pick well...and sometimes the games are just "throw-aways"
But you can speculate anyway...it just won't be recorded in the totals.

    ------------------

I've already got a suggestion of using Yahoo's PickEm

The way I usually do it, is people put down their picks before the first games.
We try to do this before Sunday...but there are some games on other days.
So the rule will be you have to pick/post before the start of the game, otherwise it won't count.

Picks for my games in the past were simply just naming the winner, no score.
But the winner & score would be done for Monday Night Football, for potential tiebreakers.
(I guess, we'll have to do 2 on Sept 8th)
Then the total wins would be summed and a winner with the most wins would be announced for the week.

***Let me know what you'd all like to do, we can agree before the season starts.

All this is for fun and bragging rights.
    If you can play...play.
    If you can't, don't
You can get in and out every week, if "life happens" so be it...no harm, no foul.
You'll still be in the running. (although with a limp. ;))

Let's all have some good play.

Ok, I'm going with the KISS principle on this...all the other sites have too many complications and registrations.
I want to make this easy, fun and about our TFP'rs.

So, the rules again are this...very simple.
    1. On Tuesday of each week, I'll post the list of the games for the main season. (we'll talk about post-season later, if wanted)
    2. Either quote or copy & paste the list in your reply.
    3. Simply put an "X" after each team you want to win each game.
    4. On the LAST game of Monday Night Football, not only pick the winner, but give a number of the Total points of the game for BOTH teams together. (this is for tie-breakers only, the person who gets closest, wins the Tie)
Again, if there are 2, pick the score for the last one.
    5. Person who choses the most wins in total count for the week...wins the week. (in case of a tie, the MNF score will choose, as noted above...if tied beyond that, it's just a dual win, but this is very rare)
    6. Everyone and anyone can play each week, whether you played or not previously.
    7. Picks MUST be before game time for each game. (so if it's on Thursday, pick it by Thursday...or it won't count)
    8. I'll sum up the counts for the convenience of everyone, and announce the winner on Tuesday morning, before I post the next week's list. (of course, anyone can do it too, with the posts placed on the board in public)
Winner gets bragging rights for the week.
    9. At the end of the season, I'll add up all the wins for the season for everyone. So the more weeks you play, the more likely you'll win. Everything counts.
Season winner gets bragging rights ...until next year or we get tired of it. ;) (no tie breaker here...BUT we may play post season, so that could be a factor too.)
And anyone can be a kind backup QB for me in case of injury or other "controversies"?? I'd appreciate a volunteer or two.

And do me a favor...please do all your picks in one shot, one posts.
This will make it MUCH easier for me to organize and not miss anything.
    • Again, pick your team to win each game with an X after.
    • Give a number for the total sum score on the last Monday Night Football, game. (and pick a winner too, don't forget)
Remember, you only get to edit your post for so long, if you're in an indecisive mood.
Otherwise, you'd have to bug a mod or admin for it...which I wouldn't recommend.
    --------------------------------------------

Ok, here we go...this 1st week, NFL Season 2014
Waa-hoo...are you ready to play football??

Remember, there's one on Thursday, THIS week...so make your pick before it.

Just a suggestion, but if you want to make it REALLY simple just create a league here:

Pro Football Pick'em | Yahoo Sports

It takes less than 5 minutes to set up a league, less than 2-3 minutes to make hour picks each week, is free, and will keep all the scores and tie breakers for you.

I recalled this from the suggestion before...

I reviewed and thought about this...I didn't want to complicate it, with another place for members to register, etc. (and it didn't allow for other factors I wanted to include)
I wanted this to be about sharing on the TFP.
And not one more place for users to remember to go every week. (out of sight, out of mind and such)
Also let observers who may leap in later as they see us play a couple of weeks.

    Hope you understand. :)

Hope you join us every week...then we'll see if you're skinned. ;)

    ------------
    In the meantime...
To get things started...here are my picks for the week...into the breach.
Whatever works for you...as long as I see an X and a number at the end.

My Raiders, actually have a decent chance...fairly even.
So I won't have to make a sacrifice.

Got it, please do me a favor and try not to cut it so close, it just makes it easier...but we're cool.
If it's your thing/technique to wait, then I'll get used to it. Fortunately posts are timestamped.
    Good luck.

  19. Congrats to me for guessing wrong on the fewest games! Also, thanks to @Borla for overestimating SD/AZ worse than I.
Bring on the next round of SWAG!
