Attractive but gray

  1. I wonder what your big headed face would look like after I scratched it all up.

Different strokes for different folks, but just because my wife would accept me if I gained 40 lbs or whatever, and still love me, doesn't mean I don't owe her the best body and looks I can reasonably do.

If I were alone and isolated I'd have no problem looking like this...

But I'm not so I shoot for this...

And that means I'm at the gym tomorrow at 8am and I might bleach my teeth every now and then. I won't shave the chest because she doesn't like it, and I look 14 when I do, but I do my best to be my best even though I don't NEED to be my best for me to enjoy life.

The issue with grey hair I've seen isn't usually the color, just look at Suzanne Krajewski, it's how well they take care of it. Well cared for silver, grey, or white hair (or even mixed) in a reasonable style always going to look better than those horrible puffed up bluish ashen things Florida's colonies of social security zombies are famous for wearing.

As for men... getting a little salt and pepper is when people stop reflexively treating you like an idiot and actually start to listen to what you're saying so it's a bit different for us. The ideal is just enough grey that people think you know what you're doing and enough dark hair left that they still think you're young enough to actually do it.

There is a sort of "age/body" appropriate issue, which I did touch on in an earlier post. Grey hair on a young person is different then one who is elderly. I had a distant family member go grey at 16 (turned out he had a genetic issue, but didn't know it for 30 more years). Should he have just gone with his natural look? I see some very elderly men at the gym with obviously died hair, and while I think it looks ridiculous, I'm not going to give them grief for trying.

Hey, if it's good enough for Clooney, it's good enough for me.

Clooney got married because he turned grey. He knew he had to settle down quick before those younger women started to laugh at the old man who was sniffing around.

Clooney got married because he found someone who was a couple of leagues above him who was willing.

While she may be an accomplished lawyer and fairly pretty, Clooney still far outshines her with wealth and fame. And he is about as good looking as her. Better in his prime.

I don't know man, she is fluent in three languages, has degrees from Oxford and New York University. She was a law clerk for soon to be Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor.
She's worked with the UN to repatriate the Elgin Marbles, worked to protect children in conflict zones and investigated human rights violations around the world.
She's written three books on jurisprudence and numerous articles.
Her husband admits she is well smarter than he is.

She could be the most average looking woman in the world and still be at or above his class.
The fact that she is beautiful pretty settles the case.

Clooney is actually too handsome, so he decided to let the natural gray show. Which is the same reason I let my hair and beard go gray  :p.

I see way too many many older men, politicians and TV news anchors in particular, with their hair dyed ridiculously dark.

Men, generally speaking but certainly not all of us, have an ageing advantage. I saw a TV interview with Dana Carvey where he compared Sean Connery to Bea Arthur. He said something along the lines of "Women still want Connery, but no guy says oh yes, Bea, spank me and take me!".

Mrs Stick - who is 51 now - dyes her hair sometimes, but isn't anal about it.
The big bonus is that she doesn't wear makeup and never has. (YAY!)
Oops - Edit - I will never dye my hair.
