    I have to take an online ethics course annually due to corporate requirements. It is the same program, with the same scenarios, and the same test every year. I wish there was a way to cheat on it so I could get it done in the five minutes it would take me to do the test, instead of having to sit through an hour of PowerPoint-style slides and clips.

    This is how I feel about all of my safety trainings. I have to do child abuse and neglect training every year because I'm a mandatory reporter (whee), and I just let it autoplay because I know all of the quiz questions and answers. I also have to do a training for "appropriate professional boundaries" aka sexual harassment, and it's the same thing.

    This year, I ended up reading manga while the scenarios played through.

    Had to deal with that bullshit as well. Seems like every year they try to make me take yet another online course that boils down to "everything you do is plagiarism" and "Don't rape anybody".

    I haven't raped anybody in my entire life but if I have to keep taking these courses I might not be able to say the same for murder...

    Ok I don't know who you are, or what you were doing, but I really don't like that you spent a few minutes fucking around with the mezuzah outside my front door and then booked it the moment you realised I'd noticed you. Ideally you're just some drunk fullsailer messing with the wierd doohickey on the doorframe, maybe something you thought you could casually grab and sell later. Less ideally you're casing my place... and in the worst case scenario you knew what it was and now you're targeting what you know is a jewish home.

    Either way I'm going to be jumpy as fuck for the next week or two.

    DAMMIT. Went to put in my contacts and one of the lenses tore--on the day I have my follow-up appointment for fitting. :( I doubt they'll have another pair of my lenses just sitting in stock, as last time they had to be ordered.

    Woke up at 0400 this morning to drive 4 hours to go to court for a crash I covered last year in my old troop area. Was told it should be a 1 day trial. A simple crash of car vs motorcycle. Driver 1 edged into his lane to make a left turn, failing to yield the right of way. Driver 2 hit her headon. Motorcycles always lose in crashes, and his medical bills maxed out her available insurance. So they hired an expert to try to discredit my report. My old sgt who was also on scene, is acting as an expert witness for the prosecution. When I got there, he told me they had not started jury selection. I am sequestered in the da's office for most of the trial. My sgt texted me a little while ago and stated that he has a bad feeling this may be a two day trial. If so, then I'll have 8 hours in the car today plus hanging out in an office and maybe court, and another 8 hours in the car tomorrow.

    It's 103 degrees outside. The people in my building, that has no AC, all know to keep the windows open in the AM to let the cool air end and promptly close the windows when it gets warmer in the afternoon. The Associate Provost does not follow this rule and we're all too scared to tell her to close her damn window when it gets hot.
