Do you enjoy any winter sports?
    Watching, or doing?
    Hockey, ice skating, bobsled...
Which winter sports do you enjoy participating in the most?

I enjoy hot drink bartending, extreme staying indoors, braving the cold Polar Bear-style to fuck in the winter, and trying to set a speed record for getting from front door to inside car.

I used to go skiing a couple times a year long ago. I haven't done it in years and years.

I don't follow hockey closely, but enjoy watching a game every now and then.

We used to go sledding a lot as kids.

Once a year or so my wife and I make a huge snowman just because.

That's about it, other than snow blowing/shoveling.

Does riding motorcycles in the snow count?

Molly has been known to accompany me skiing. She's getting a bit old for it.

Of course, I'm getting a bit old for it, too.

We snowshoe and both dogs adore the snow.

I like all 4 seasons and live in Colorado. When in Rome ...

fflowley Don't just do something, stand there!

We have a blast here (upstate NY) in the winter.
Winter is so long I don't know how you can live here if you can't enjoy it.
When there's good snow I cross country/back country ski 3 or 4 days a week. We have trails on our property plus 3 excellent places to ski within 15 minutes.
Downhill skiing about 90 minutes away, we do that a few times a year.
There is also an outdoor rink in town. Skate and play hockey with the kids on weekends and play pickup hockey with the grown ups one or two evenings a week.
Just waiting now for it to arrive. Has been a very mild snowless season here so far.

I don't participate in winter sports. They're not real big in Houston, and if I spend money to travel it won't be to go snow skiing.

I do enjoy watching skiing and snowboarding, never saw the appeal of ice hockey even though I do like boxing and some MMA. As a kid I watched many of the winter Olympics, but haven't really followed them in recent years.

    Curling is a sport? Seriously?

Ostensibly, I know how to telemark ski. Realistically, I should invest in a good pair of touring skis. I'm not big on going down steep hills. I like going up hills, but going back down them is difficult. I'll do it, but it's weirdly the least favorite part for me.

I live in a country without any really decent winter sports areas - our "Alpine" areas are fairly crappy really. Imagine having to change countries to get decent snow fields. It does make these sports a little inaccessible. If I did ski, I imagine it wouldn't be long before I broke something - surely you don't pay all that money just to fall over constantly. Been a couple of times - don't have any huge plans to go back anytime soon.

I think I'll join Levite in front of the fire with warm beverages and other niceties.

I would still go to the beach in Australia in the winter-time...

Skiing and snowboarding out West has ruined it for me here in the midwest. I had fun with the groups I went with in the past though. And I'm not opposed to do it again.

I am sick of the snow, ice and cold after 2 weeks though.

I am usually a watcher of hockey. This season the Leafs are so terrible that I am choosing to pretend the sport doesn't exist.

Like most Canadian children I played the odd game of hockey, went tobogganing, etc but nothing formal. I'm not a terribly athletic person, and don't anticipate that will change at this point in my life.

What did you get me into?

    *sob*

Actually, I tell myself the same thing I do with all my other sports teams: it's a rebuilding year (and it is).

I like to ice skate, but I'm not very good at it. Since I used to be fairly decent at it, I would probably be better now if I practiced more.

I like watching figure skating and snowboarding, but I usually only watch them during the Winter Olympics.

I keep saying I'm going to "go up the mountain" and try out some downhill skiing, or at the very least, snow-tubing. I've been in this corner of NC for 5 years and haven't done it yet. This year, maybe?

not really for me that's more of a up north thing.

  15. A lifetime in Michigan has not made me a fan of winter outdoor activities. Just the opposite. I've never skied, snowmobiled or snowboarded... never even considered it. I ice skated a little when I was a kid and flailed around with a hockey stick on occasion. Never thought it was even remotely fun.

One job I had, the owner took all of the managers up to a ski resort for a long weekend. We would have a business meeting over breakfast, then everyone would hit the slopes or the sleds. Everyone except for me. I grabbed a book, headed over to the bar or the Jacuzzi and sucked down some bloody marys. Good times.

I do enjoy watching hockey and I'll watch a bit of winter Olympics, but that's as far as it goes.

I am Canadian... heck, they take your citizenship away for less than not liking winter sports.

That said, I have never been skiing or snowboarding, x-country only.
I do like playing hockey. I have been outdoor camping in winter conditions and survived to tell the tale.

Tobogganing is one of the good things in life and my old neighbourhood had a couple of the better runs in Toronto.

It's been ten years since I last saw snow. I think I am going to have to either make a trip home for Christmas or visit Japan or Korea to get a dose of the white stuff.
