When I hear that phrase, I usually thought people said that to create an illusion for the child to think everything was okay. In my case, it's to protect my only child from someone who might possibly be going crazy. Also, the thought of not seeing her everyday hurts a bit. (I have some divorced friends with kids who went through the anguish of seeing their young kids grown every time they picked them up from their ex's house.) My daughter IS aware of what's going on though, and she and I have a bond over this.

Perhaps it will matter a little less when she gets to her teenage years, but we'll see what happens. I do need to stick around for a little bit longer. My duty as a parent demands it.

Oh, and @omega, @Chris Noyb, and @Tully Mars, thanks for the support. I still wouldn't put money on my success in the dating world, but I actually do feel a little better about it after reading all of your posts.

Maybe it won't take as nearly as long to get to this point with "The Dragon Lady":

If she's as nutz as you say why would you assume she'd get the majority of custody? Maybe she'd be picking up your daughter every other weekend.

    This ^.

A few years ago I ran into an old friend I hadn't seen in about 35 years. When he got divorced he initially lost majority custody of his two sons. His EX continued being a flake after the divorce, and he worked with Father's Rights groups and a good attorney to sue for custody. He was granted custody, and the EX had very limited visitation rights. Note--The EX must've been a major flake/lousy mother because when the sons reached legal age they terminated their mother's rights.

Here in Oklahoma our courts don't give a shit about right and wrong or whom will be the best for the children. The real truth is: it's who has spent the most money, and it better look good on paper to cover the Judges and everyone else's ass. That is the person that gets custody. So let me ask this. If a child or children are old enough, and competent, why not just ask them which parent they want to live with? In all matters, as adults we make all decisions for our children, Why? If one parent is fucking nuts I know that the children would know that.

I was under the impression that the way it worked most of the time, unless there were some extreme reasons why their choice was unacceptable.

We have had our money in credit unions for several decades because they--generally speaking-- tend not to charge a lot of "nickel-and-dime" fees like many banks d0.

We're in the process of opening an estate account and moving all the assets into that account as instructed by the estate attorney. My wife, as the executrix of the estate, has to sign the various forms. Yesterday she had a short day at work, so I reminded her that she needs to go by the CU branch office near us to sign the papers for the account. We met at the CU because it was easier than her first coming home, and I made sure to bring took all the required (and previously provided, more on this later) documents with me.

About a 10 days ago I had gone by the main CU office to provide all the documents so that all my wife would need to do was stop in and sign the various forms. The usual procedure is the rep acknowledges having received the originals, scans them in to the system, and then someone in legal reviews them and also acknowledges having received them. We knew in advance that my wife would need to sign some paperwork in person; I went in with the documents to expedite this.

I waited about 20 minutes to meet with a rep, and spent about 40 minutes with her going over the papers and what would be needed. She assured me that she had noted all of the necessary papers had been provided, and that setting up the account could done quickly at the branch office close us.

At the branch office they could not find any record of the paperwork, and the rep that I had previously met with at the main office was at lunch......at 2:50 pm.....how very convenient. We had to go through the entire process over again, which took about 35 minutes. While my presence wasn't necessary--I could've left the documents with my wife--it's a good thing I stuck around. I overheard the rep say "The account has been moved, and you're good to go." I asked do you mean all of the accounts? It turns out that she--and my wife--overlooked some CDs that needed to be cashed out and deposited in the estate account. This took another 20 minutes.

I'm seriously considering going to the main office to demand to know where the problem occurred, with the rep there, or with the rep at the branch office.

    I want to bitch.
But I don't to talk about it with anyone else...even under an alias or anonymously.

Nothing's wrong or bad...just annoying and irksome.

Is there any such thing as a legitimate hissy-fit??

I loathe my laptop. It's half in Spanish and in English. It's slow, constantly drops the wifi connection which must be manually reset. The screen and the keyboard suck so bad I've taken to using an HDMI cable to view on my TV and a USB wireless keyboard. For the first three months I owned it I could bluetooth to the TV screen but that stopped working a few days after the 90 day return window closed. Lately I've been thinking I should "accidentally" spill coffee on it so I can just go buy one I want. But "M" bought it for me at Christmas and I think it would break her heart if something happened to it. *Sigh*

Why do some people think that a "sincerely held religious belief" somehow carries more weight than facts or an individuals' rights?

I tripped on the stairs and ripped my goddamn toenail out. I don't know how I did it. I guess I should be thankful I didn't cause myself more damage but goddamn does this thing hurt.

I went to the hospital to have it checked out, just to be safe. Three hours in a waiting room for a tetanus shot and an antibiotic cream, neither of which is likely necessary in the first place.

This is a pretty minor injury. I'm trying not to blow it out of proportion. But it fucking hurts. I don't know if I'm going to be able to get any sleep tonight.

I am facing my fears this year.
I have major dentist anxiety. Sitting in the aestheic dentist's front office, shaking and almost in tears this crown has been messed up twice and causes me pain. I hate being afraid of something like this. But it's taking everything I've got not to run.

The outlawing of drones in national parks pretty much puts a damper on my plan to get one. How am I supposed to get breathtaking aerial shots now?

Oh, well- I guess I can still get one and just use it to cause panic in crowded areas:

4 interviews so far...they all come back to the recruiter saying not enough experience on the EU side of things, but we like her attitude. The recruiter comes back three months later and two of the places still haven't filled the position. I could have learned what I need by then and gained experience if they would have given me a chance.

Memorial Day! Which in auto sales means bell to bell, 830 am to 900 pm. Woot! Add that to the 70+ hours last week. I need a job back in branch banking. I have already contacted Chase bank. At least they had good health benefits and consistent income.
