Part of me would LOVE to see a volcano.
Another part of me knows very well how spread an active volcano could be...and likes my life, so nah.

I've already done flames, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, snowstorms, wind and lightning...through no choice of my own.
No need to do volcanoes and tsunamis, on purpose.

Why do I think Mother Nature and Fate have some plans for me....

I can fit into "mall store" sizes now. Which is awesome. What is NOT awesome is the mall store prices. Sheee-it.

On a positive note, I DID find a kickass pleather jacket at Aeropostale for 50% off. It's mine now.

This is why I buy everything from thrift stores. As a bonus anything under a 33" waist, especially with a 30-29" inseam, is usually in almost new condition.

Try off-price retail. There are many stores, our experience is limited to about three.

Stein Mart. Very similar to normal department stores. Unfortunately the prices, while lower than DS, reflect this. Some serious bargains can be found on their clearance racks, and they used to send/offer discount coupons to regular customers.

Marshalls. A clear step down from Stein Mart, but the prices are lower.

Ross Dress For Less. Pretty much the bottom of the bargain barrel. The prices are low, but the stores are usually a mess. You have to really dig, and be sure to triple check the items to make sure they're not damaged or have serious manufacturing flaws.

Thrift & resale stores can be great. Some people have a 'thing' against used clothing, I don't.
I have a thread here about by my thrift & resale store experiences and finds:

It was really more about the excitement of being able to fit into "standard lady sizes" than a desire to buy clothes (although I did find some sweaters I liked, and once it goes on sale, I am TOTALLY going back for that Ravenclaw cardigan.) I usually shop at places like Target, Kohl's, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, and thrift stores. We just happened to be at the mall last night, and I realized I could fit into things at Hot Topic, Aeropostale, American Eagle, and the like. It's been so long since I even bothered to enter one of those stores that the prices gave me a bit of sticker shock.

Edited to add: now that I think about it, the sizes aren't really even "standard," since a lot of those places cater to teens and 20-somethings. Imagine my delight when I slipped on a medium--a medium!--cardigan at Hot Topic and it fit perfectly. For someone who was pushing a size 24 twelve years ago, and never really got lower than a 12 since high school, that is a really damn awesome feeling. :)

In other news, when I walked into karaoke tonight, Karaoke Guy immediately motioned me up to the booth and said, "I need you to do your best 80s song, right now." There was an older guy standing next to him.

"Well, i'm not warmed up, sooooo...Tiffany or Joan Jett, I guess."

Older Guy: "Can you do Journey?"

"Sure, after I warm up a bit."

"Ah. I gotta leave here in a minute."

O...kay? I was a little puzzled, but decided to go with Joan Jett.

Turns out Older Guy has a band. And he's looking for a singer. And he liked my voice and said I had great energy. AND OH MY GOD HE WANTS ME TO AUDITION.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, since other "we're putting a band together" situations have fallen through...

But I'm still REALLY. FUCKING. PUMPED. AAHHHHHHHH!

A few years back my wife & I went to a neighbor's wedding, and as usual we struck up a conversation with the C&W cover band. When the singer & rhythm guitarist found out she was a musician who could play bass (it's not her main instrument, but she can play bass on simple songs, with some practice) and sing lead or back-up, and actually liked C&W, he was drooling. It didn't go anywhere (he also didn't know that my wife isn't a night person, & weeknights would be a no go).

Bed bugs are my primary concern. I make it a point to seal things in bags and cook everything in the trunk for a few days before bringing it in and washing/cooking it further in the dryer.

I started watching a film with my husband on Sunday. It was called "Deadpool". Within the first couple of minutes I could tell that it was clearly designed to appeal to him. His humor. Huge explosions. Flashy music.
I invited him to have fun and walked out of the room. Totally not my thing. Wasn't going to torture myself trying to sit through it. I'm more of a Hallmark channel kind of gal.

And probably twenty minutes per hour of stupid and loud commercials.

Nope, he was streaming it on the HBO ap, so there weren't any commercials.
