@Borla the link ^ takes me to the Yahoo main page. If the story is regarding Arian Foster, I'm not at all surprised, he has never been a my-life-is-nothing-without-sports jock. He probably wants to be able to walk relatively normally when he's fifty. Not mention the Dolphins were most like his last shot in the NFL, and injuries are yet again plaguing him. He was a great running back, but he is also an example of why most running backs do not have long NFL careers. I wish him all the best.

    -------------------

Now the really ugly. Osweiler--and the entire Texans team--totally sucked last night. The Texans get their bye week after the 8th game. That would give Tom Savage two weeks to work with the first team offence. If BO smells bad (see what I did there? Yes, lame ) at home against the lowly Lions, OB will be forced to make a decision.

The Texans wins have been close against bad teams. Until last night their blowout losses have been against good teams (I don't think that the Broncos are that good). I guess that we'll see another mediocre season where they'll win the AFC South--big whoop--and make an early exit from the POs.

But hey, the Vikings crashed and burned against the Eagles.

The link was the story on Foster. Not sure what broke it for you, link still goes to the story for me.

So far this season I have been taking a knee to football out of respect to the pledge.

Everyone has the right to free speech, I have the same right to avoid watching football. This is really a first for me in 16 years. I might make a comeback once post-season starts.

On paper 5-3 looks good. In reality the Texans are probably the lamest, or at least one of the lamest, 5-3 teams in the NFL.

    -----------------

Where did the Eagles defense go during the OT? Is Prescott really that good at running & throwing?

The Eagles D just got tired of playing ball, I picked the Eagles, head shake downward staring scowl

My picks this season have been off, off as The Texans playing on either side of the ball. We both suck ass.

It is possible to be 5-3 while sucking ass.

Someone should tell Green Bay's special teams unit there's a 100% effective way to prevent kickoff returns for touchdowns. Kick the ball out the back of the end zone. This kicking it high & short is too cute by half.

NFL ratings are way, way down this year.

Some of the factors that were thought to be involved (Cubs WS run, presidential election, etc.) are now past. It'll be interesting to see if ratings rebound.

I actually have found myself watching less of the NFL this year than most recent years. Part of it is being busy. But part of it is a weird combination of other factors. I don't like Thursday night games, I think they are sloppy and usually not well played. The weather has been warmer than usual, so I've done more outside activities on Sundays. And part of it is my dislike of Roger Goodell. He fines players for innocent fun, took one of the best players away from the game for 1/4 of the season over nothing, and just generally irritates me, which has turned me off to the league. I guess we'll see what happens as the season progresses.

The Texans are coming off their bye week at mid-season. Under OB the Texans have done pretty well in the 2nd half of the last two seasons. But judging from their mediocre play through the first eight games, I see the very real possibility of five losses--Raiders, Chargers, Packers, Colts, & Bengals--in their remaining eight games. They might actually win two or three of those games, but they could lose them and they could also lose to the rejuvenated Titans.

Before the start of this season I figured 10-6, maybe even 12-4, with much depending on how Osweiler played. He has been average, at best.

My hopes are high, at least 10-6.

My expectations are low, 8-8, possibly even 7-8.

    --------------------

What are your thoughts on your team(s) in the 2nd half of the season?

    ------------------------------

The dallas cowgirls fans in Houston are jumping on the bandwagon...

...much like cockroaches invading a dirty food-truck.

The bad news for this hater is they're playing really good football, and seem to have found their new starting QB. Who would've guessed--much less known--that Prescott, a rookie QB chosen 135th in the draft, could play like a top veteran? His four game, more or less, grace period for 'surprising' opponents has passed, and they're still winning :(.

At this point the best I can hope for is the cowgirls suffering an early exit from the POs, or jackass jerry deciding (we know the decision is not up to Garrett) that Romo deserves to be the starter.

Watching Cleveland it is so sad to see them. This is a team with high draft picks for years, lots of cap space, and seemingly no plan on how to rebuild a team.

More importantly the lack of being able to draft well.

I don't know which is worse, having a team that just plain sucks and can't win, or having a team that wins just enough to get your hopes up only to disappoint you.

I am not a Cleveland fan, just love the game. It is sad as they were on the cusp for a while of becoming a winning team. Losing games only by one score. They take 1 steps forward then 3 back it seems.

Yet another (very) close win over a bad team by the Texans. TBF the Jaguars are probably better than their record indicates, but I'd still like to see the Texans get hot and start winning convincingly.

    ---------------------------

I don't know who is more dissappointed, me or Roethlisberger.
