I keep getting flagged for spell check every time I try to spell exaggerate. There, I got it right for once!

    What can't you spell?

  2. I always do a double take on "maintenance." Based on "maintain" and I have to stop myself from just adding "ance" to that.

My spelling is reasonably good, it's my typing that sucks.

Anything with the potential for multiple double letters give me grief.

    Thank god for spell checkers.

I don't have a problem with the spelling, but I always worry about whether I am using affect and effect correctly.

My spelling is excellent. I used to find spelling mistakes that my mom (a teacher) would occasionally make when I was ten. Though I think it has suffered slightly over the past few years because I don't read as many books now that I have the internet constantly accessible, and spell check on my phone has made me slightly lazy. I worry about kids nowadays.

Bureaucracy. Hey, I actually got it right without SpellCheck, but only because I was consciously thinking about it.

Monogamous. Oops, had to rely on SpellCheck.

There's a word I use frequently here at TFP, and nine times out of ten SpellCheck flags it. Right now I can't remember what it is.

Edit--I make a distinction between my many typos and actual misspellings (SpellCheck flagged mispellings).

I always have to double-check when I spell "remember", "banana", and "tomorrow". Also, I switch letters and numbers around a lot, too. Like 5 with 7, and left for felt.

Necessary. I can never remember that it's one C and two S's. But it took me half my life to remember where the S's even went so I'm OK with it. Nessecary? Nesessary? Its also one of those words that I can't spell phonetically in my head to make it easier to remember; Like when I was a kid and couldn't spell "friend" in 2nd grade. My teacher told me to break the word down and I said "Fry End" and I've never spelled it wrong again.

I don't have big problems with spelling, rather grammer gives me grief.
Referring to someone's parents as individual influences of said person, I wrote "parent's." Should it have been "parents's?" I've left a trail of examples all over this board. It helps not to use spellcheck, I need to surgically implant all the grammar I failed to learn. Kill me.

Edit/ I thought I misspelled "grammar" as "grammer" and I see now that I did! Why is spell check not getting it?

I do remember misspellings and return to fix them, sometimes.

Grammarly has an extension for chrome. It makes life so much easier for me, except when I'm writing psychology notes... It hates that I leave out articles. :) I'm pretty good with spelling. I'll have to pay attention for a few days and see what gets caught most often. It's the damn predictive text and autocorrect on my phone that kill me.

    Vacuum. *always* misspelling it.

I recently learned that I'd been spelling 'maintenance' wrong for years.

I spell vacuum wrong a lot. My students think I can spell anything. They are wrong.

In the U.S. I am a horrible speller. However, I'm ok here at home, most of the time. :D

I totally suck at grammar. It's embarrassing on both sides of the border.
