Like my question of the day series, I have decided to start a poll of the day. Some of the polls will be nonsense. Some of them might spark conversation. Mostly I just want to see how many people respond to a poll in a given 48 hour period. The poll will be closed to responses after 2 days.

    I used to love peanuts.
Now they make my tongue swell up and close my airways. My love for breathing overwhelms my love for peanuts. I am always on the lookout for restaurants that are peanut-free and baked goods that are made in a peanut free facility.

Love peanuts and am glad no one in the family is allergic to them.

Yes, I like them. Often I'll grab a bag in the shell at a baseball game.

But I like them as a snack occasionally at home too, especially honey roasted peanuts.

I eat them when I'm hungry. They seem to be the best thing that makes me satisfied with something I ate.

  5. I like 'em. Just like Borla says, they are a ballgame staple. Love a good crunchy peanut butter, too.

Ok...nuts altogether...I like depending on the nut and the context.

Peanuts, specifically...I like unshelled just by themselves...most often in a big can so I can grab them whenever I'm hungry. (or in a PayDay candybar...but not Snickers)
But shelled doesn't do it for me anymore...used to like them.

Cashews, however I LOVE...and will easily go through a whole container at a sitting...or come back & forth...again & again on.

I love most nuts. Peanuts, which are legumes, technically, have the same effect on my stomach as other beans. So cannot eat them unless I'm ready for the stomach pain.

I eat peanuts and peanut butter, though I don't like cooked peanut type stuff like peanut butter cookies and Reeses pieces. I'll always eat a few while waiting for a five guys burger. But it's not something I generally ever buy. Peanut butter I do (crunchy) but not peanuts. Just never even occurs to me.

Technically I'm allergic to them, but it's a mild allergy. I can take them or leave them. My consumption is usually peanut butter, honey roasted, or in a candy bar.

Yes, BUT...I generally only eat them honey roasted. Although I buy bags of raw unshelled peanuts for the blue jays & squirrels.

Nom, this thread has given me cravings.

My dad, the main grocery shopper and cook in my growing up household, loved peanuts in all their variety. So we did it all. Many kinds of peanut butter, including natural (yuck with the puddle of oil on top), Spanish peanuts, shelled peanuts and all kinds of other Planter's nuts delights. My mom would occasionally leave the house and buy obscene amounts of candy (about the only food item my Dad would not buy). Much of what she bought had peanuts, almonds or cashews.

I prefer crunchy over smooth PNB and Jif please, for the brand because I love sugars in my PNB. A PBJ w/milk remains delightful though it has been a while (years). In my household we keep only smooth PNB as I want all the bang for my occasional teaspoonful for curbing hunger and junk-food urges. No one else eats it but me.

I don't eat candy any more except for special occasions when I prefer peanuts with chocolate. Snickers ("packed with peanuts so it really satisfies") was my fave American candy bar for years but in the last 15 years or so the corn syrup in them is not really tasting that yummy to me. At Halloween, I'll take Reese's PNB cups. I could (but I won't) eat a big bag of peanut M&M's. I'll ignore the plain ones. Overeating both peanuts and chocolate gives me a stomachache tho so it's not worth doing to myself.

A bag of peanuts bought at a sports game or a fair is tasty. So yes to peanuts and many other nuts. Like pecan butter tarts. Drool.

I'm deadly allergic to tree nuts but can eat peanuts.
I like them in Thai cooking, cookies, peanut butter, etc.
Not really a fan of eating raw salted or doing the shelling.
I had boiled ones that were pretty interesting.

I didn't care for the boiled ones. I have always enjoyed peanuts and all the family of foods related to them. When I first got the gout my Doc gave me a list of foods to avoid. Beef and peanuts were there. So I ate more and more and yes the gout returned however after all this time I enjoy these foods now without any side effects. Spanish peanuts are my favorite but I don't eat them because the paperskin gets in my teeth.

It's not too terrible to not have them. I love fresh ground almond butter and the SunButter that has only salt added. So I still get my sammiches. I just have to be careful with trail mixes.
