    I saw Collosall....

I liked it but it is weird and eclectic. Definitely not for everyone.

Also, lost city of Z was very engaging, but moved kind of slowly, like a novel. Not boring, but not fast paced.

They often say that the sequel is never as good as the original, and they are often right. Fortunately for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2, they would be wrong. I thought this was an excellent continuation of the series and it had as much humor and heart as the original. Two thumbs up and definitely worthwhile.

It didn't dawn on me that this was a remake until I saw it on a billboard.

I vaguely remember seeing it in the theaters. I was six, but my parents took me to all sorts of movies. I'll catch this on cable or netflix.

Last night, I watched Maria Bamford's new special, Old Baby. It's fucking brilliant. Though it helps if you enjoy surreal observational humour that's both frenetic in pacing and subtle (if not absent) in its punchlines. (It also helps to understand mental illness first-hand.)

Watched close encounters of the third kind a week ago. I had seen it several times but not in about ten years. I enjoyed it, but have a different perspective on it since having my own children. Richard Dreyfuss's character just leaves his family behind with no explanation or even a goodbye. Just takes off with aliens. No idea of what year or decade he might return. Kind of pissed me off how selfish he was.

I saw an interview with Spielberg where he said that after he had kids he thought about that ending and wished he'd written it differently.

    IMHO
    I liked the new Ghostbusters

I know it's been some time since its release
But I like watching it with some repetition

    Best subtle line:
That's where I saw that weird sparking thing
    What was it??
Baby, if I knew what it was...I wouldn't say, "weird sparking thing".

It's summer, so lots of fun movies that I have seen, but I have been remiss in my simple reviews. So to catch up:

Baby Driver. Much better than the title would suggest. I don't think it's worth the 97% that has accrued on rotten tomatoes, but it's worthwhile. Redravin mentioned in another thread about the soundtrack, and the movie is definitely laden with songs and some deep cuts. One of the stunt drivers popped up on an automotive forum and talked about the driving. No cgi and well done.
Wonder Woman. Better than Batman vs Superman. Need more? I guess so, since that's not a very high bar. They managed to actually inject a little humor into the movie, unlike the previous glowering lumbering movies. Is it great? No, but it's a definite improvement. And my 7 year old daughters loved it. And I was glad to have them watch a movie where a woman kicked ass. I am somewhat looking forward to the justice League movie, based on this. Hopefully they can stay on an upward trajectory of quality.
Spiderman, Homecoming. It's another mcu movie. Some humor, lots of tie ins to marvel properties and I appreciate the continuity. Tom Holland did a good job, and was more believable than Andrew Garfield. Michael Keaton was appreciated. I'm glad they did not waste time killing uncle Ben again or turn Peter into a mopey mess a la Tobey Maguire. If you have watched all the other mcu movies, you may as well see this.

Blade runner 2049. Go see it. A great dark continuation of the series. A really good movie that is worthwhile to see in the theaters. Ryan gosling's character was worthwhile, as was his girlfriend. And good to see Harrison Ford reprising his role as Deckard. I mean it, go see it.

100% agree, it is a awesome movie. Great story, well acted, beautifully filmed.

  17. DAKA

DAKA DOING VERY NICELY, THANK YOU

JACK REACHER.. The Midget...(Tom Cruise) is a foot too short and 100 # too light to be Reacher, aside from that he is a TERRIBLE ACTOR.
Besides, why bother to buy the rights to a book when you don't follow the story...this move is a minus 10
I wouldn't have paid a nickle to see this as I can't stand Cruise, but it was on Netflix free.
(And that is all I have to say about that....Forest Gump)

    I saw Justice League...excellent job
Parts gave me shivers, to see the classics I grew up with in action

I don’t know what the hell the critics and rating sites are talking about...

It was a nice combination of intensity and humor
Even had 2 Easter eggs in the credits for teases

And hints of a future villain in the movie.
Well, one Easter egg is one...
The allies of the current baddie are another
Both make me smile knowingly and with anticipation

Personally, I think it’s just a lumping trend that critics get into sometimes
Giving cred to one always, dissing another always
Take them as they come, folks

Go see Justice League...it does the heroes justice
    Great flick

My now 9 year old was super upset when superman "died" in dawn of justice... should I take him to see this one?
