Knocking Off the Rust - a Collectives Exercise

I have a project in mind that will take me quite a while. The sketches I'm posting in this thread are starter exercises in order to figure out how I want to approach the project, which is a series of collectives, but using my own terms vs "A Murder of Crows" or "A Gaggle of Geese". So I have to learn how to draw several different types of creatures. Mostly they will be animals that are around us today, some creatures are long extinct, and a couple of them are purely mythical.
Beginnings happen sometime, somewhere. These sketches are beginning the first step for me.

    Love the caterpillars.
    Great detail.

Damn, I need to get back into it.
Except the art piece I have floating in my mind now is a large 3D structure. (and I don't need to draw it out)

But I'm trying to be more quiet and Zen...so perhaps I should break out the pencils and pens.

    Thank you for the inspiration.
    Excellent work.
