Are you in an area where you can experience it? if so what are your plans?

at my work they say we will have 97% totality. I think it will be interesting. most school districts are holding kids and releasing late about an hour so the kids can experience it. My daughters school got all the kids glasses so they will be safe. I couldn't find any glasses but I plan on using my welding helment.

I'm in the path of totality. We're having friends over for brunch. No schools go back until next week at the earliest anyway, but even our local districts told 12-month employees to stay home today.

    Should be pretty cool!

Lincoln is right in the path. We get nearly 3 hours, with about 1:29 totality. It starts about 11:30 with total eclipse at 1:03pm, the show should be pretty much directly overhead. Some friends from Boston drove here in their motor home, and we are cooking pork chops in the back yard.

@ralphie250 be careful! Local newspaper says only welding lenses rated shade 14 and up are safe!

It appears that it'll be cloudy and/or raining here during the eclipse. We aren't in the totality swathe, but we are close enough that there should've been an interesting view. I'm interested in seeing what videos and pics come from it.

No plans for me, though the library & science center are teaming up for some festivities. I do have some NASA-approved glasses, though, so I'll go outside and watch for a while by myself (well, and Eden, probably.) We're not in the path of totality, but we'll still get around 98% or so.

I have been super-excited about this all year, but I'm coming off two weeks' worth of overtime (around 52 hours this week), and I'm just....tired. So, no crowds for me, just a quiet bit of observing.

Yeah, that was pretty awesome. I had iheartradio's Solar Eclipse Party station on, which included The End of the World as We Know It, Black Hole Sun, and at the moment of totality, Total Eclipse of the Heart.

Temps dropped around 8 degrees here, and the crickets started chirping. It was so cool.

One of the coolest parts to me was how surreal the light got and shadows went from super crisp to scalloped and diffused! Our neighbors chickens FREAKED out! One of our cats was restless and odd for about an hour before the whole thing started until about 2 hours after. She's here with me now, and is finally in chill sleepytime mode. I have one bugger of a migraine after all of the shifting light, the total blackness within the glasses, and the corona of sunlight. Still, I was 4 years old for the last eclipse, and I don't have a single memory. I do recall much of what happened when Mount St. Helens erupted as we were about 50 miles from it. That was a bit later however. Our teen was a pissy creature but I thought she should see it anyway, the 11 year old was interested at least. :)

Saw the ECLIPSE here in Tennessee, one of the greatest things that I have ever witnessed. Now I understand why millions of people traveled hundreds of miles to see it. If you never seen it, and have any kind of chance to ever see it, you won't regret it.

I have a headache that is only minimally related to the barometric pressure and the sunlight shifts. This was about the pinnacle of our 5 minutes outside today [IMG]
