I'm thankful for my local coffee places. Both are wonderful sources of community. I know I've got it made when one shop messages me on Facebook to let me know they've got a pound of my favorite coffee set aside.

I am thankful for NKD Pizza for consistently sending me awesome pizzas.

Unbelievable how hard it is to find consistency in this country.

I'm grateful for a colleague. I have just started a temporary job, and technically I am this persons boss, instead she is my mentor as she knows more about the setting than I do. She makes me feel like I could do anything with her gentle encouragement and support. She gives me just enough input but still lets me find out things for myself, she whole-heatedly takes on-board any suggestions for change occasionally giving her own ideas on my thoughts which I value greatly. I was dreading my first day but now look forward to going into work with the knowledge that with her support I can overcome anything the day throws my way. She is worth her weight in gold! I do tell her this, but she just shrugs and says its her job and its how she would like to be treated if it was the other way around.

    Reviving this thread.

I'm grateful for the wonderful people in my life. Being not-so-busy lately has let me touch base with some friends I hadn't talked to in a while. We've made plans to catch up in full next week. I'm grateful for my colleagues, who ask me to come work for them, and who leave me things to do. I am eternally grateful for my fantastic mentor, who is always there for me, always willing to listen, and has taught me more things than I can shake a stick at. I'm grateful for my students. I am so incredibly glad that they are in my life. The amount of joy they bring me far outweighs the headaches and heartaches I also receive for being their teacher. I'm grateful for the conversations I had this morning. Conversations are connections, and I value the connections I have with my students. I am so grateful for the moments when they tell me it's too bad I'm only there for today, and they wish I was there every day; it's heartening to tell them that I wish that too.

    I grateful for my kiddos.
They've been one of the things keeping me together.
I'm grateful for my friend James who I go out with every Sunday, have brunch and help buy vinyl.
I'm grateful for TFP and The Break Room, two places I have friends from across the world.

I'm grateful for my boss, who tells me all the things my mentor says about me. My mentor is a very blasé man at times, and though I know he cares, it's nice to have outside confirmation.

I am grateful for vacuum cleaners and lawnmowers. And the satisfying feeling I get when I use either.

(This seemed like a good thread to bring back)

“If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.”

    Regina Brett

With that quote, I'd like to relate a short episode at work I had recently: I was fixing a dishwasher for a young couple and noticed a shopping list written in dry-erase on their refrigerator. The left-hand side of the list had the usual assortment of mundane items you'd find at the grocery store, but the right-hand side held a few surprises... "beads, anal lube, ED pills for [guy's name]".

These tenants were in their late 20's at the oldest. I reflected on my own situation and came to the conclusion that if I had to trade for having a freak in the sack for a partner but in dire need of pills to have an erection, I'll gladly hold on to my sexless marriage and this frigid ice queen I live with. At least I can get it up, even if there's no point to it.

Just seems like less frustration for me.

The fact that other people have it worse, doesn't mean that your problems aren't important. But, perspective can help sometimes.

Where my mind is right now, I really want to trade problems, but then I'd feel like I was giving up...

Today I'm most grateful for my husband who is my best friend, I have no idea how that man puts up with me sometimes. I was on crutches for the eclipse, but my wrist went out, and he stayed beside me. The last couple of days my bones just won't stay in and instead of being bed bound, he half carried me out into the living room to be with our kids. We had dinner and hung out, then kids went their separate ways, we watched Rick & Morty, and Fire Walk With Me, and just had a calm evening. He often picks me up and carries me if I can't walk, or get myself stuck like halfway down the hall. He makes me laugh more than any person I've ever met! He loves working out now and we play like otters in the pool. I woke up in a frustrated state with joint issues this morning and he said, "Hopefully today the water will take away all of your pain." Kind, funny, sarcastic as heck, a ridiculously talented artist, cute, and loving I thank the stars above that I have him. <3

I also use the "CBT" therapy but something tells me we are not talking about the same treatment

I'm grateful i confessed to my wife, i still have all my body parts attached and i'm not sleeping on the sidewalk.

But seriously when you start thinking about little things it adds-up. Before i was feeling like it's been a long time i had not accomplished anything significant. Started thinking about the small ones and noticed a lot of them were related. So they became bigger things.

Today I'm grateful for all of the souls that made my pink wheels happen! They are beloved comic shop owners, writers, artists, fans of comics, friends, and I'm blessed by each and every one! They've given me a gift beyond measure! One day soon I hope to figure out a way to repay all of them in the near future!

My wheels have given me a way to participate in life in ways I've not been able to for 10 years. They've helped me be a little less reclusive (the reclusive part is my fault entirely). The bright neon cheery color is there for me even on the darkest most painful days. Tears for a wheelchair. Lol. Many more tears of gratitude for those that made it happen. <3
