That's a German drinking toast. It's frequently printed, in German, on bier steins.

Olympian, beer is a very general term that covers many styles of beer. I'm certain there are websites that go into great detail regarding the many types of beer.

I'd post a link, but I'm not motivated....and I'm on my phone. Do some research (if you're not trolling, that is).

"Get in, buckle up, hang on, & don't criticize" actually could be the reason. What a motto.

If that ever happened to me I might have to order a beer and give it back.

Well, the simple answer is, I like beer.

I'm not entirely fond of most liquors (and I have VERY bad memories of Jack, vodka, tequila, and Jager.) While I enjoy wine in moderation, too much gives me a terrible hangover. Liquor gets me drunk too quickly. I can keep a good buzz going for hours with good beer, and it's cheaper. Guinness, Sam Adams (and their various seasonals), Lindemans, shandy, Bass, Newcastle...all are tasty to me.

The first beer I remember tasting is Milwaukee's Best. Gah. I didn't touch beer for a good decade after, at least, because I thought it all tasted like that. It doesn't.

There is nothing quite like a good Belgian trippel for me. Or a Guinness. Or a Peroni with pizza. I have to be careful now because of the gluten, but I love a good, crisp light (color) beer or dark stout or porter.

Beer wasn't my poison of choice, but I liked dark and tasty beer--Porters, stouts, double bocks, etc. Regular pilsner? lager? was ok when icy cold.

Poison is exactly it. Being slowly intoxicated but not through good taste.

    So...
Do you understand the concept of agreeing to disagree?
That is where two people come to the understanding that no amount of attempting to change the others mind will make a difference and that the topic is not of grave importance so in order to maintain a good relationship, they will agree to disagree.
From there they move on to other topics.
They don't continue to try and change the other persons mind because they know it won't work.

You asked why we drink beer and we gave an assortment of, I think, good answers.
Your hammering away that it is horrible is not going to change anyone's mind.
We will be fine with you not liking it.
There are plenty of us that don't like things that are wonderful and we just go with them (just ask @MeltedMetalGlob about blowjobs sometime).

    So, lets agree to disagree.

That's not the same thing at all. Getting blowjobs from a good looking girl should be considerd a good thing in life.
