Trump Slaps Steel Tariffs on Closest U.S. Allies

Trump is doing am excellent job...for Russia (and China)
Whittling down any strength, ally and resource we have.

    America...death by a 1000 cuts.
Shooting ourselves in the foot while exclaiming our self-interests.

This will be a slippery slope.
Question is...will we recover?? Will we be trusted again?

One mistake that Obama made in 2009-2010 that Trump isn't making is that Trump hasn't stopped holding campaign rallies in various parts of the country where he has support. I wish the Democrats would realize that the 2020 campaign has started already, and I wonder when they will get into the game? Now would be the perfect time to go to the deep blue places that campaigns never go to because they aren't the swing states. But, it is now the best time to get your message out, get name recognition, and build a base of support that will help you on-line.

And if Trump can keep his base together, 2018 will be a red wave in the senate, and possibly the house won't change much either. There may be more Democrat voters than normal, but it will be in the wrong places. And the conservative base is just as fired up to vote as ever.

I know worry about what Russia will do when they aren't able to control the next President. And the bigger question if that is better. What will the long term issues be with giving Syrian control to Russia, having them control Iran, and forcing North Korea to stand down. All those countries require Russia or they will fall apart and lack the supplies they need.

I'm not a big fan of Trump harming our alliances with our allies and interfering with free trade to our friends. This seems right out of the Russia playbook to reduce US influence around the world.

Trump's outside advisers see little upside in joining White House as staff

    Gee...I wonder why?

Why would anyone want to go into chaos? Put themselves in harm's way? Get thrown under the bus.
Only to cover the ass of someone who doesn't care about you at all.

This is not like the service...where you're doing something for your country.
It's sacrifice for just a brief blurb on your resume.
And you're not going to end up doing something good for your country...but actions that tear it down.
...Just for the ego of one.

Families Belong Together will be holding rallies in every state tomorrow, more 700 across the country, against Trump's repressive and regressive immigration policies particularly separating children from parents at the border, even those entering legally to request asylum, and blatantly denying basic rights of due process.

    BTW...he feeds off his name.
We should say it like many do in Harry Potter... "he who shall not be named"

Or just not say his name. "Mr. Prez" , "his administration", etc...

Not that it would literally do anything, but I know he'd HATE it. :D

How's he doing?? Poorly...to say the least.
This week in Trumponomics: More tariffs are here!

And I have no sympathy what so ever for Wall Street, corporations or those states that supported for him...from the impact they will suffer.
It was obvious from the start, he was NOT ready for prime time...at all.

Such as his EPA choice...and likely sub after the mess
Government watchdog group releases epic one-word statement after Scott Pruitt finally resigns
Poison...will you drink that water?? (kool-aid)

And finally, as always proving himself NOT a class act.
Trump mocks Elizabeth Warren and #MeToo movement - and her response struck a chord

If you can't make an intelligent choice...then there are consequences. (even IF you disliked Hillary, it was still a VERY apparent disparity.)
You get the government you vote for.

This is about as bad as a youth choosing to date and bed the bad guy/girl. The rich douchebag.

Oh well...as long as he doesn't get us into a nuke ...or become a full dictator...I "guess" it's recoverable.
    Or IS it???

    Interesting perspective...
Opinion | A Liberal’s Case for Brett Kavanaugh

An actual not unsane pick from Trump...and actually presented well.
If only he could do this more often...he'd create less of a panic or feeling of discomfort.

He may have messed up the Dems attack plans on this one.
I wonder if the article is on target in the long run...and this potential Justice is balanced. (which would be a good replacement for Kennedy, who wasn't really as "swing" or middle as many made him out to be)

45 only chose Kavanaugh because Kavanaugh says that a sitting president cannot be indicted.

And a followup... (since we don't have a SCOTUS thread...and we should, now that I think about it.)
Opinion | We’ve turned the justices into gods

Agreed...we need to put some type of check on the Justices. Their actions have long-running ramifications.
Perhaps an agreed long-term limit. (10 years? 15 years? 20 maybe too long)
But this would mix it up a bit...go along the lines of what the nation is at culturally at the moment. And give more opportunities for change....for ANY party.

It would be interesting to know the early history of the court. How long were they on the bench for, and what was the life expectancy for someone who lived in DC over the past two centuries.

But the biggest issue is that with Congress not doing anything, their rulings are the only thing that changes the country in big ways.

Which is really convenient when Kennedy might have had to recuse himself if his son was part of the case against Trump... I wonder when the pardon is going to come for his son?

However, it is a gamble thinking that the other 4 conservative justices feel that way too.
