Worlds stupidest wild bird, I give you the Alaskan chicken, I mean ptarmigan.
(There is a town here that is named Chicken because they couldn't figure out how to spell ptarmigan.)



A friend of mine and I once shot five of these using a wrist rocket and a bb gun.
They were lined up on a branch and we were not the best shots
The birds toppled over one at a time while the others just sat there watching their buddies get picked off.



And oddly enough, they do taste a lot like chicken.

We used to visit Brazos Bend State Park frequently. The birds and alligators pretty much ignored each other; perhaps gators don't like the taste of birds. Or the feathers get stuck in their throat.

One day we watched as one gator dove beneath the surface at least six times, coming up with a turtle each time. The turtle shells cracking sounded like gun shots.

The visitors center has a huge turtle shell with gator teeth indentions. The docent said the measurements of the teeth spacing indicated the gator would've been about 18' long.

 

I took this shot a couple autumns ago of a very patient peregrine falcon. He guess just ignored me until he spotted a mouse.
