This is pointless. But could be enlightening. Fill in the blank, respond to someone - or both - as you see fit.

    Is it odd that _________?

    ----------------------------------------------
    I'll start.

Is it odd that I relax by blasting Classical music while curling up with my online biology class on my laptop? I just love reading through the discussion forum and grading papers. I learn so much from my students.

No, not odd at all. Then again, I'm into science too...and love teaching.
Many non-technical people may feel uncomfortable with it...but that's their loss. (and I love classical too...allows me to focus)

    ------

    Is it odd that...
I like picking up pennies for "luck" with an air kiss to it before putting it in my pocket to carry with me...and then have a special holder at home just for picked up luck coins??
I'm a scientist and technical person.
    I'm not religious.
    I'm not superstitious at all

But it's just damn fun. Keeps me child-like.
Almost as if the penny is a symbolic representation of my hopes and optimism. :D

And no...when I do pick it up...I don't sing the phrase, "see a penny, pick it up and all day long you'll have good luck"
Nope, I cynically say to myself... "I need all the damn luck I can get" ;) (without thinking it will do so)

It's like it's a shield against all the bullshit that is happening too me at the time...and puts a smile on my face.
Kind of like petting a cute animal puts a smile on you and makes you feel good.

That is a fun little personal ritual of happiness. Thank you for sharing.

Is it odd that my 3 year old cries when someone says they will take something away?

I didn't think it was abnormal for a child this age to have that response. My sister mentioned to my 3 year old that the little toy farm that she was playing with was hers. My daughter had the anticipated response of grabbing the toy, hugging it, and crying. It caused my sister a panic attack the other day.

And to think, my sister works at a preschool...

Is it odd that even though I am very well off financially that I've never owned a new car or had a car payment? I've purchased 4 cars in 26 years of driving paying in total, a little over $21K in cash. Plus one free car that I got as a family hand-me-down.

I listen to loud classical while doing financial analysis. Instrumental only, I find anything with lyrics distracting. In fact my desk is set up as a "listening station" with my Mac feeding audio through a nice amp and a couple of Paradigm speakers at the back of my desk.

I count things. Kind of mindlessly, but I count stuff. Cars in a parking lot. Windows (or storeys) in a building... The other day I caught myself counting the fish in the aquarium at a sports bar. It's an OCD thing.
