My/our actual shotgun. The meh photo was taken by my wife.

    ..........

We went to a local gun show last Saturday. Much to my surprise my wife found a Ruger GP100 seven shot that she really liked. We had discussed buying another full-sized .357 as shooter, and selling the Security Six (I have two people wanting it) since parts are scarce (not that anything breaking is a real concern).

So we came home with the GP100, seven shot, SS, six inch barrel.

The incorrect, and unnecessary, capitalization is annoying.

Eh, it's only dead because Kirstang and I aren't posting how we've blown our disposable income for the month, every month.

Didn't realize Ruger hopped on the seven shot train with the GP100. Modern metallurgy is a gift. GP100 is a girthy gun.

Modern metallurgy is nice...but...if I was going to do A LOT of serious .357 mag shooting I would've went with a six shot. The cylinder walls seem very thin when compared to the Security-Six, and even the SP101.

It's not an issue. We shoot .38s mostly, but do practice with full load .357s.

I seriously enjoy the .22s for relaxing & inexpensive shooting.

    We now have cousin guns.

Yesterday I/we purchased what might be a semi-rare revolver:
    Ruger .22 Cal.
    New Model Single-Six

In stainless steel, with a 4.62" barrel, manufactured in '74.

If the serial number info on the official Ruger site is correct, this is a very early New Model.

If the info I gathered from various websites is correct, Ruger didn't make a lot of Single-Six in stainless with a 4 5/8" barrel, esp early in New Model production.

Which doesn't translate to $$ because not many .22s are highly sought after.

    I notice that I didn't mention a new-to-me handgun.

    WARNING: .22 CAL content!
    :p

I had previously mentioned that the old Iver Johnson DA .22 revolver had to be retired because the cylinder started to slip. After much research I decided against dropping the $$ on a new .22 revolver because of the cost, and the fact that so many of them, even the "better" ones from S&W and Ruger, had problems.

The H&R 999 Sportsman Deluxe caught my eye, but they are apparently quite popular with collectors. Clean ones bring $450.00 plus.

I ran across a High Standard Sentinel Deluxe in VG condition at a pawn shop. They didn't move much on the price, but since the gun was so clean, and it was still a good deal, I bought it.

Later I'll try posting some images using my phone.....if anyone shows any interest.

    ----------------------------

The Ruger LCP II definitely requires some adjustments, but I've been very impressed with how it handles a variety of ammo, and the accuracy. My wife rarely carries it, so it's now unofficially mine (OK, still ours, but more mine, if that makes sense).

I should've specified the .22 revolvers are double-action. It seems that manufacturers have problems with the cylinder timing.

My two Ruger single-action .22 revolvers, and the High Standard, have no issues, specifically shaving bullets.

We went to the range over the Thanksgiving holidays. Huge mistake, well sort of. The indoor range was extremely crowded (duh, holidays, lots of people off work) and we were assigned one lane. I don't go to the range to watch my wife shoot, and I don't like waiting for "my turn" especially if I'm having a good shooting day. Oh well.

I embarrassed myself with the Ruger SP101, couldn't hit any consistent groupings past smell-their-breath distances. Basically I wasn't controlling worth a shit.

Yesterday, by myself, was much better. I started with a couple of .22s, shot through my initial nervousness, and switched to other guns when I felt like I'd peaked with the .22s. I was able to concentrate with the 101.

I've never tried using these targets, but plan to soon. I probably won't post the results.

Brand new Ruger Old Army in box with Papers and___ for sale.jpg

That's a Ruger Old Army, and if anyone knows these revolvers, or looks closely, it's black powder. A PITA to load, and clean, but not something everyone else has. Oh yeah, investing in the powder, projectiles, wads, grease, and accessories is something to consider.

No, it's not mine, but I did run across one in a pawn shop that will negotiate the price, esp if cash is involved. Who knows?

One issue that concerns me: The three numbers hand-etched on the cylinder face don't match the last three numbers of the serial number. Hmm. I'll contact Ruger if I get serious about buying it.

The blued finish with brass actually looks better.
