I learned a lot about how satire and even politics work from MAD magazine.
They were the John Stewart and John Oliver of their time.
Even recently while they were taking ads they were taking potshots at the people they took ads from.

So in tribute and hopefully not trying anybodies patience I present MAD covers the presidents (sort of).

I grew up reading MAD in the late 70's to early 90's, but its funniest material by far was in the 1950's. Harvey Kurtzman was a genius, and his work has heavily influenced my own. (If any of the long time TFPers recall my "How's Your Mom, Ed?" jokes, I should point out that they are direct Kurtzman references.)

I thought I posted this before, but this is a sample of 1950's MAD- an original dark thriller story, which the editors promptly replaced all the original dialogue with sheer nonsense:
Inside Jeff Overturf's Head: "Murder the Husband! Murder the Story!" - Jack Davis - Mad Mondays!
