Our county is now at level 3, so my gym is limited to 50 patrons per hour. The busiest times are probably more like 200-300. You have to book on the app exactly 48 hours in advance. I am going tonight at 9p. Could not get a time tomorrow. Managed to book 7p for Wednesday. Took stalking the app and repeatedly clicking to get that time. It was booked out in two minutes. Frustrating, but what can you do?

  2. Starting to work out more, since being home and all. The home gym build out was clutch. So glad I invested in it. I've started expanding it. Weight bench, heavy bag, speed bag, free weights, and a textured gym flooring for easier burpees. I'm about to add a high jump box to work on my vertical jump. The initial idea was to lose weight. But now it's turned into more specific goals. Like regain my old 35 inch vertical from undergrad and gain the ability to run a mile without stopping to walk. I'd like to build a basketball court on the property but, finding time to design and plan is just not gonna happen. This is good for now I guess. I DO have the ability to rent out the local gym when I want to play, so there's that.

So far, I've lost 10 pounds and gotten pretty flexible. Would like to push it a bit more but other priorities are in the way.....you know, life and all. Lol.

Bit of a humblebrag, but here goes.
Worked up to the 115 lb dbs for a set of 9 then 6 for db bench press. The hard part is not pushing the weight, but getting the damn dbs in position. Dbs above 100 lbs have a thicker handle than standard dbs. I have fairly small paws so getting those dbs into position is hard.

Confession. Been mostly a workout pud since last Feb. Been using Covid as a semi-excuse as I have a better than average home gym. Need to get back into it, I've lost a good deal of strength and the look is going fast too. I do better at the gym but eh I can still do it.

My "workouts" are still up and down.

I might hit 600 calories in 60:10 minutes, and burn another 30 calories in six minutes using only my arms, pushing my mileage to 17.3.

Or struggle to hit 600 calories 66 minutes, and be so POd at myself I don't care about the mileage.

    I'm not currently working out.
But 4 years back I joined Boney to Beastly and honestly, this guys rock so hard. Super supportive, friendly, excellent community on their boards.
I lost 35+ lbs. It's a program for skinny dudes to beef up, but for it worked great to lean out.
Mainly because the program and the coaches are super great and genuinely wanting to help folks get fit..
I started at 185ish and dropped to 153. This started at 54 years old too. I mean geez when I was in jr high I was probably about 180 and non athletic.
Those dudes even asked me if I would allow my progress pics and story for promo.
I was too shy...but man my pics showing 45 days in was amazing..
I'm still holding on at about 160lb and look great, feel fine in 31 inch waist pants.
I want to start the deal up again, 3x a week about 2 hr process of making a workout shake then warm ups and six lifting movements on the average schedule.
It's seems like its all about the stars aligning...loose enough schedule, ability to let go of your wants and just let go and do it, etc.

My county had gone to it's most restrictive last month, which made working out well-nigh impossible, so I was back to elastic bands. Checked the website a couple days ago, and they had opened partially back up. Actually got an effective chest workout yesterday. Weights were a little lighter, but they will be back in a week.

My boss is in the same situation, he power lifts and basically showed me that it's possible to do this if you want. I decided to buy my own basic gear, plates bars and a bench and do it at home. It helped me to keep my commitment to get through a 4 phase program. I may not to barbell press but dumbbell presses seem to be enough. I finally got an ez bar for dead lifts and a chin bar. I do sometimes think it'd be good to have a gym buddy or coach to help push an extra rep and check my form.
Before b2B I was working without a plan and I felt the need for structure so I'm really glad to find them.

  9. Hit a point where the weight loss and gain is boomeranging. It's super annoying and has started causing me to go off of my diet. I know I need to get more active to see improved results. Shit is discouraging tho.

Can someone please explain what is, what is the benefit if intermittent fasting?

Here's some well written info from Hopkins:

Intermittent Fasting: What is it, and how does it work?

I have long been a proponent of limiting the number of hours a day we eat, although I do eat for more than 8 hours a day.
I have breakfast around 0600 on work days.
Most days I ride my bike to work, and my mornings feel like they go on for ever so I always eat a good breakfast.
If I get home at a decent time we have dinner at 5:30-6. And then that's it. No eating after that so my body has 12 hours of not digesting food.
I think this is metabolically healthy.

it’s good for your body to have a period of time each day where you don’t eat.
Try for 12 hours as a start.
So let’s say breakfast at 0600, lunch, then dinner at 1800.
Then don’t eat again until the next day.
Adjust as needed for your individual situation but aim for something like that.

    I can't do that well.
I'm hypoglycemic, so I can't go too long while I'm not asleep.
What I do is I eat smaller meals in smaller intervals.
The key component for me is protein. I always needs that.
Certain veggies seem to make a difference too.
Carbs aren't as important nor are fruits.

It depends on each person's metabolism. Everyone is different. Some more so than others.

As someone who used this to lose most of his fat, there is a lot of mumbo jumbo pseudo science around it.

Its not *better* for weight loss, it *might* be better for health in terms of longevity but probably again its just calories, but for a lot of people, it is *great* for appetite control.

Basically for me it meant skipping breakfast, medium lunch, bigger dinner, made sure my macros were right and done.

Its extremely easy to over think and over analyze nutrition Once you start getting into thermogenic effects of protein, eating cold foods vrs hot (cold takes more energy aka "better") etc you've gone too far down the rabbit hole.

Just figure out what calories work for you that put you in a deficit, make sure you are getting enough protein and fat (carbs are a bonus), and thats all you need.

IF helped me reach that goal because if I eat breakfast, I'm *starving* by lunch, that old hunger response kicks off.

    Still count calories.

Blood pressure had been climbing past few years, then really got out of control. Take 10 mg of lisinopril, which helps. Also really got back on my cardio game. Today was my day off from weights, so 20 minutes this morning on the peloton, then an hour walk in the evening. 4.15 miles, 121 bpm average, 7954 steps, according to my new fitbit. Now if I can just get my right shoulder to start cooperating again.

I've got the momentum going again, finally kickstarted myself.

3 days a week, going to gym. (apt complex, not many people)
Riding my bike when it's not humid.
Swimming in the pool when it is.

Long walks everyday with the pup...down the length of the marina.

I can feel the energy returning.
Time to kick it up a notch.

Goal: need to lose lots of weight, the isolation last year really did a job on me.

Next, make enough space to set up my new larger punching bag.
Get my investment out of it.
