Watches

  1. It's this one, but not as pristine. 12-9-6 layout compared to your 3-6-9 layout.

IIRC Even the solar rechargeable batteries like mine uses aren't all that expensive, maybe low double digits at most. I would put in the effort to find a decent jewely store to do any work on my watch though. Any place that sells more expensive watches like the Master of G series or mid to high end men's watches should be fine.

    Nice! I like it.
Yeah, if it is a nicer watch you are probably safer getting it done at a jewelry store. Or, you can look for what store in your area sells the brand of watch it is. Not a bad suggestion.

I value prestige but I never got to a point with watches where there was any point so: must be digital, must be waterproof. Mustn't break. That's about it.

If you hand me a Rolex or something I'll take it but I will sell it.

My latest watch is a military style very rugged. My wife says I have a watch fetish. I have five watches as of right now all are waterproof (a must) some are for dress up others for work. I never don't have one on. I expect to be buried with one.

My wife says I have a watch fetish I can’t seem to walk past a watch display case and not look at them. I have at present 8 watches. I can’t help but buy more. I posted last year I had only 5 but that number has grown by three.

I literally would have to count the number of watches I won, mostly because I win auctions of mixed lots of watches. Very few are valuable, collectible, etc.

My favorite EDW is a Cavalry model (I have several) from Victorinox, Wenger, & Swiss Army Brand.

Citizen Eco-Drive is another favorite. Several are very nice ladies models, but my wife has large wrists. On some we've had links added, but several require replacing the bands/bracelets which isn't an easy task on a discontinued models. If she had the need/professional position for being seen wearing nice watches we would pursue it.

My biggest "sleeper" scores are a Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk Black Eagle, and black face model that looks awesome but is very difficult to read.

One these days I'm going eBay a bunch of them.

I've always loved the Casio m5600 series g-shocks. I love the whole function over form thing; no moving parts, atomic sync, solar powered. When they made it in steel, its the only watch I wear now.

That's a nice looking watch. Add a few subtle black accents to the bracelet, and it would look even dressier.

Most will. You can also usually go to one of those watch kiosks that many malls have and they will do it there.

Be careful. Some stores will offer a special service where they water test the seal; it's a rip-off upsale.

Around here $10.00 will get you new battery, and a new gasket if needed.

Like a thin tubular rubber band. It goes on the back piece that unscrews, or the back of the watch; IIRC the gasket helps give the watch better water resistance. I don't know if all watch models utilize one.

Ok, so if I had stupid money and everything else paid off, I would get this. Tag Heuer Monaco in Gulf livery. Tank case, popularized by Steve McQueen in the movie Le Mans. Of course it's around 5k, so I will not be getting it. But that watch has captured my eye. Judging by the pic, I would also assume McQueen is left handed, as I am. We're also both extremely good looking and excellent drivers. Twinsies! TAGHeuer_SteveMcQueen_LeMans_1971.jpg 00pp-tag-heuer-monaco-watch-in-stainless-steel-ref-tag-heuer-2113-circa-2000.jpg

Believe it or not, it's almost impossible to simply walk into an authorized Rolex dealer and buy a Rolex. The demand is so high, they are only allowed to charge MSRP, and the supply is so low that you have to have an established relationship with a Rolex AD, get on a list (that is NOT 'first come, first served', it's more like 'yeah, I like you, so you are next on the list'), and have them call you when they have one they are willing to sell you. By relationship, they mean 'you've spent some decent money here before, so we will finally sell you a Rolex'.

So today I started my 'relationship' with one of the closest Rolex ADs in my area. Hoping to get a phone call that my turn comes up by next spring. We will see.
