New ride

 

I presently drive a very different vehicle than I did when I started this thread.

And this morning I put in a pre-order on a truck that I am really excited about. The Slate EV.

I'm skeptical of EV startups. For every Rivian there's a dozen Canoos. But I really hope Slate delivers on what they're promising. I think there is demand for a small, simple truck. I'd love to have one myself, though for a parent it would be necessity be a second vehicle.

 

As for what I'm driving these days, I traded in the Ford Fusion in 2021 for what I refer to as my midlife crisis car:

 

The Slate can be configured as a 5 person SUV. So ...

 

So they claim. Whether that particular feature makes it to the production version remains to be seen. If there is a production version, which also remains to be seen.

There have been lots of ambitious EV startups over the last decade-ish. Of those the successes are Lucid, Rivian, and Tesla. And the first two still aren't exactly on firm footing. So we'll see.
