I have a sweet tooth, but cake is an exceptional weakness for me.

I think it started when I was a child when my mother never bought me a cake for my birthday; we always had a pie instead. She claimed that nobody liked cake, so we went with pie. I liked it, and couldn't understand why I was denied this on my birthday. Nowadays I grab one whenever everyone's outta the house for a while. (I'm greedy sometimes, and don't always like to share when it comes to cake.) :D

I apologize for the major thread hijack. This touched a nerve.

    Do not get me started
on my mother baking pretty much ONLY peanut butter cookies
because that's what my father liked.
--'Something smells great, Mom baked cookies! What? Peanut fucking butter cookies AGAIN?'--.

To be fair to mom, a very complicated two faced person, she baked pies & cakes. And I should be thankful I had a father who took care of his family...the best he could in his limited cognitive capacity way.

I now have an addictive sweet tooth. For relative ease to make (homemade), apple pie with fresh apples & reduced sugar, esp over the sweet gooey apple pies most stores make*. For very complicated to make (homemade), carrot cake made the old fashioned way, meaning each of the three cakes is glazed in butter & sugar glaze.

    * Sam's Club does an apple pie that is much better than the standard store made apple pie. It's not my wife's homemade, but not bad.

I will likely start a thread about desserts in the Food Table this weekend. :)

And just to bring the thread back on-topic, I still have cake!!!

I miss leafy green vegetables. They cause kidney stones, so I cannot have them at all. There are days when I would kill for a salad.

Copious amounts of cake help ease the pain, however. :D

Eat carrot cake, it qualifies as health food ;).

I actually have relatives who used to turn down carrot cakes because of the carrots .

Bold of you to assume it's still around.

This pretty much happened last week to the last slice:

You seriously think I didn't know that bit of cake was a goner? I have a major sweet tooth.

I should probably monitor my sugar-blood level.
