Actually, I hope others find this one useful- I kept seeing the third symbol on packets of shredded cheese, and I wasn't certain exactly what that symbol meant. Now I know I need to toss it in the trash.

 

(A bit more humorous than useful, but still...)

 

It is named after Jayne Mansfield, who was killed in 1967 when the vehicle she was in slid under the back of a semi. The other two in the front seat were also killed, her kids in the back survived.

 

Cocks for males, hens for females. So peacocks and peahens.

Raptors are always referred to as having talons. Talons are actually the back claws. The front claws are called pounces. Which actually sounds really cool. Pounces.

 

I was just listening to a song by Donald Fagen's album "The Nightfly". Started reading the band notes on Tidal. Fagen was co-founder of Steely Dan. I learned today that Steely Dan is taken from the name of a dildo in William S Burroughs book Naked Lunch. Which is a fantastic name for a dildo, and a pretty good band name.

 

We were watching Wheel of Fortune (please, go ahead, take a minute to laugh at us ), which triggered me to look up what you call a group of jellyfish.
