Guns N' Roses, but it's a synthpop band from the 80's!

Everyone should recognize this little chestnut, but I wonder if anyone has actually heard the whole thing until now.

"The Castle Aargh. Our quest is at an end".

The song Roxanne by The Police, but it's just "rocks."

Honestly, this is one of those "so stupid you can't help but laugh uproariously at it" things.

Okay, THIS definitely qualifies as unusual! This is an incredibly obscure 80's band called the Coupe de Villes, and if that name rings any sort of bell, you'll recognize these guys who did the end title song for the cult film Big Trouble in Little China.

They put out one album, "Waiting Out the Eighties":

Who are these guys? John Carpenter (yes, THAT John Carpenter) Nick Castle (yes, THAT Nick Castle, the guy who plays Michael Myers in the 1978 Halloween movie) and Tommy Lee Wallace, a screenwriter who worked with both of the aforementioned gentlemen.

Not gonna lie, I'm diggin' the music on this album!

Another unusual song, this one is a mashup with Kiss, Metallica & Bon Jovi set to Michael Jackson's "Beat It."

    Way too much KISS for
    my opinionated taste.

    FWIW I respect the effort.

Out of Kiss' entire output, I only like about three songs from them, and mostly on account of hearing said songs randomly and not knowing who sung them until later. I worked for a guy who was an enormous fan and after hearing a good portion of their catalog, I can't say I was enamored of them.

Just heard this song a week or two ago. Just found the music video to post here. Hard to believe this song or performance piece is from 1982. Obviously not a regular song, but it has a definite attraction for certain occasions.

I remember when their popularity took off in the mid '70s. I had many friends who thought they were great, some of them would reenact the fire spitting (oh yes, I definitely had a misspent youth). To me their bombastic live shows were a cover for mediocre music & even worse songwriting. TBF I know some serious musicians who think their 1st live album is awesome.

If you're ever incredibly bored you could research KISS's marketing strategies. I think they followed the Roy Rogers Rake In The Money playbook.

I had forgotten about Laurie Anderson, IIRC she had some commercial success above just having cult fans.

And I'm now hit with the thought of how much I miss redravin's input on unusual bands & artists.
