Looking at the 2026 Winter Olympics medals count made me check into this.

 

Per some explanations, yes but not really. The single star has been used as a symbol for independence for centuries before either flag was adopted. An earlier failed Tejas independence movement that predated the Chilean flag had used a flag somewhat similar to the eventual Texas flag.

With all that said ,
back in the late 1830s some people in Texas had to know the Texas flag under consideration looked extremely similar to the Chilean flag .
