Shit Books

I recently picked up a used copy of Fleet of the Damned by Allan Cole & Chris Bunch. I'd never heard of this series, and after reading it, I will avoid it AT ALL COSTS.

I was so disappointed; I took a chance at picking up a random book in the hopes of finding something new to enjoy and it turns out to be very unengaging. The story (to the extent that there is one) revolves around the fact that a galaxy-wide war is about to break out and a small group of characters enlist in the military in preparation for war.

It's very episodic, which means that whatever issue the characters are dealing with for the next ten pages will soon be resolved/forgotten and they'll move on to the next problem. This also means you could remove practically everything, jumble it up and replace it in a random order and it wouldn't make a difference.

By the time you reach the last page, you realize that nothing much has happened.
