Some of the audio was out of synch. No biggie, we get much worse on free antenna TV

On that digression some of the channels will develop a computer glitch, & the glitch will last several days. "No human beings are involved in the broadcast on this channel." "No human beings are involved in the broadcast on this channel." "No human beings are involved in the broadcast on this channel." "No human beings are involved in the broadcast on this channel." I'd really like to contribute more to this thread, and I keep browsing YouTube for various independent efforts- however, just about everything I view is simply not worth sharing,

Yes, film-watching is subjective, but whenever I post something in this thread, I'm aiming for an experience that amuse/entertain/educate/have some sort of positive effect on the viewer.

The last half-dozen shorts I watched? By the time each one ended, they all had me scratching my head wondering what the hell the point was.

"Yeah, I guess that was okay, but... I didn't get it." - That's not a good reaction.

That worked for 2001: A Space Odyssey.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I say this in jest, but don't ever dare to mention AI slop in the same breath as my favorite film, next to Raiders of the Lost Ark.

On a more serious note, 2001 does happen to be one of my favorite movies, and I saw it while in film school in a theater back in 1993.

It was like a religious experience for me; a cinematic monument. I sat in the front row totally mesmerized for its 2 hour+ run time.

I've also lost track of how many times I've seen it in theaters, but probably a half-dozen.

2001 is a great movie, & a very odd movie. The people I know who claim to understand the ending can't explain the ending. Some where here on TFP there is some discussion of 2001.

I did a search and although it gets an occasional mention in a thread, there is no in-depth discussion or single thread devoted to it.

Regarding the ending (and the whole film in general, really) Kubrick said in an interview that he'd like the audience to take whatever they want out of the movie. He was reluctant to state his own opinion on it, as he didn't want to color anyone's views with his own.

There's an imbecile on YouTube that claims he's figured it all out and refuses to divulge the info, and if anyone posts an answer, he threatens to delete it. Naturally, he had no involvement in the making of the film, being about 5 years old when it came out. A friend pointed out his channel, and after watching some of his nonsense I never went back.
