    So, I offered to give someone a ride to a departmental party, since it's at a faculty member's home a few miles away and inaccessible by public transit. We agreed on a meeting place and time yesterday. I'm also driving others. Now one of them wants me to pick them up at their house "on your way.". Sorry, dude, but you live a mile in the other direction. No way. Get your lazy bum to campus as we agreed or you don't get a ride. It would be another matter entirely if they had a good reason. "But I took the day off lab today" is not a valid reason. Yesterday you made plans. Stick to them or leave me alone.
