Use a good post-shave healer. Don't do it to often. I shaved two days in a row early last week, and it still looks like damage from a shotgun blast. Also, soaking the area in really hot water whether in a bath or witha hot towel will soften the hair and let it absorb shaving cream better. The best brand of cream is Neutrogena, the kind I use is in a white can with gray and blue on it. If I had waited another day and gotten another can instead of using whatever was around, I wouldn't have my current problem. For post-shave, it's expensive, but Clinique for men post-shave healer is great.

EDIT: How could I forget, BRNAD NEW RAZOR EACH TIME!
