FWIW, part of the ventilation system where I work makes a sound exactly like someone typing on a keyboard. I hear it whenever I pass by my friend Dan's cubicle, and I always pop in to say "hi", but most of the time he's not there - it's just the damn air conditioner.
The mouse clicking you hear could be something similar...
