Dont worry about appropriate. You wouldnt think interrupting a girl grocery shopping would be, but it's statistically the best place to meet a longterm partner. My advice? dont overthink it, and dont put too much emphasis on it.

Ok heres my thing. I have been better at talking to women, but I guess I just don't know how to do something like you said (grocery store) without it being akward. I dunno "hey, you're cute whats you phone number?" seems to be immature.
