I think it's a mental thing...I don't have a particularly strong odor most of the time (trust me, I know when I do) but my ex swore up and down he could smell when I took off my pants.
Men also have a definite odor to themselves, especially the guy I've been sleeping with. Every time I go home I can smell him on me--I know it's half truth, half mental. Either way, I'm always hesitant to shower afterwards because his smell is such a pleasant memory...
