Unfortunately, every woman's body reacts differently to birth control pills. However, if she had an irregular period to begin with, and was irregular even ON the pills, I would not be a bit surprised if her cycle was thrown off after going off the pill. Mine was like clockwork on the pill, and even so when I went off for a time I was several weeks late and ready to take a pregnancy test before I finally got my period.

If you're concerned, $12 is not too much to pay for over-the-counter peace of mind until she can see her gyno. When she talks to her doctor, she might want to find out about a different pill that might make her cycles more regulated. That should help keep the baby worries away.
