it would've been nice to not have to use violence, but i doubt that guy would've let you get in the cab without giving you a serious hassle... you definitely did the right thing. you didn't let it escalate into a full-blown fight, but you got his attention and shut him up. though it was still probalby better that the bouncers got involved and helped you on your way.
