Not quite. Corrola has been doing love-line for only 10 years or so.
It was actually started at KROQ in LA, before it became syndicated, by a DJ named "Poorman..." but he pulled some stunt by getting a bunch of rowdy listeners to a monring DJ's house for his birthday and was fired...the details are sketchy.
I think there was another guy after Poorman, and when Carolla was brought in they didn't get along....maybe 95 or 96?
I usually enjoyed MR KFI back in those days....if anyone remembers him...so I might be a little off with the dates. I think he moved to KABC.
Anyway, Dr. Drew has been there since the beginning, and his straight man professional act will be supplemented by a comic relief type, someone else I'm sure who is just as funny and interesting if not more so.
I don't think love line is going anywhere....and definately isn't/wasn't/won't be about the clown playing off of Drew's sage advice.
