I've had a barber give me a shave with a straight razor but ended up getting too many ingrown hairs.
I actually don't know what I use anymore... it's metal and uses a disposable three blade thing. I stocked up on a big pile of them before I moved here and haven't had to buy any in the past year and half. I think I am down to my last four blades.
As for electric, they never give me a close enough shave for my liking and sometimes get caught in my beard.
