Pick up one of these for a few bucks:
It only makes a single cup of coffee at a time, but it's a good backup to have around, as all it needs is ground coffee and hot water to work. We're a little tricked out with coffee paraphernalia at our house--we have two of these, a French press, a fancy-dancy programmable coffee maker with built-in grinder and thermal carafe, a cheapie Mr. Coffee coffee maker, and two other grinders. So even if something broke, we would have a backup. That's good as I also depend on coffee.
