Superman II was better than the first one, i.e. Superman - The Movie?

I thought the consensus was, the first was far better than the 2nd.

Hmm. Would that be the version of Superman II released in theaters, back in the early '80s, or would that be the (reportedly far superior) "Richard Donner Cut", released on DVD in the mid 2000s?
